3D Studio Max 6 Shortcut Keys

this was written by Megaerathia here, but he asked me to post it here as a helpful guide to 3DSmax 6 shortcut keys.

ctrl+o=Open (open file)
ctl+s=save (saves file)
e=rotate mode (lets you rotate your model)
ctrl+x=expert mode (removes the toolbars and you just see the viewports)
9=advanced light panel (in render panel)
alt+a=align mode(lets you align the model)
ctrl+a=select all (selects all)
A=angle snap toggle (dunno actually maybe works together with snap toggle)
n=auto key mode toggle(automaticly creates keys instead of creating it yourself)
alt+ctrl+b=background lock(locks background)
,=backup time one unit(goes back one frame)
b=bottom view(changes current view into bottom view)
c=camera view(changes current view into camera view)
ctrl+v=clone (clones current selected object)
alt+ctrl+c=collapse poly (changes selected polys into one poly)
alt+c=cut poly (lets you create edges anywhere in fact cuts the poly through the half)
ctrl+f=cycle selection mode(switches between rectangular, circular, fence and lasso selection mode)
d=disable view(disables current view)
alt+x=see through mesh(changes opacity of current selected mesh and lets you see through it)
8=environment menu(opens up a menu which lets you edit the environment)
alt+e=extrude polygon (extrude current polys)
f=front view(changes fcurrent view into front view)
end=end frame(goes to end frame
home=start frame(goes to start frame)
shift+c=hide cameras(hides cameras)
shift+g=hide geometry(hides geometry)
g=hide grid(hides grid)
shift+h=hide helpers(hides helper objects)
shift+l=hide lights(hides lights)
shift+s=hide shapes(hides splines and shapes drawn)
shift+p=hide particles(hides particle systems)
shift+w=hide space warps(hides space warps)
alt+q=isolate selection(lets you edit the current selected object only)
l=left view(changes current view into left view)
m=material editor(opens matrial editor window)
alt+w=min/max toggle(enlarges current selected viewport
f11=maxscript listener(opens window where you can edit or create maxscripts)
ctrl+m=meshsmooth poly(gotta be editable mesh or poly then it smooths the mesh)
w=move mode(lets you move objects)
ctrl+p=pan mode(lets you zoom in and out with mousewheel)
p=perspective mode(changes current viewport into perspective mode)
/=play animation(plays animation)
7=polygon counter(counts polygons also known as faces)
shift+q=quick render(renders the current viewport quickly also depents on your materials)
ctrl+y=redo operation (redos action)
shift+z=redo viewport operation(redos viewport action)
f9=render last(renders last thing)
f10=render(opens window which lets you change thing like rendering a animation)
0=render to texture(renders current viewport to a texture)
ctrl+r=rotate view(rotates the view in current viewport)
ctr+i=invert(inverts selection)
ctr+d=select none(deselects all)
h=select by name(lets you select objects by name)
space=lock selection(locks current selection)
.=next frame(goes to next frame)
'=set key mode(lets you set keys by hand)
f2=shade faces(shade selected faces)
alt+6=show main toggle(shows top toggle)
shift+f=safe frame(shows a safe frame in current view)
j=selection bracket toggle(removes the white line thats showing that the object is selected)
r=scale(scales object)
1=vertex mode(vertex mode)
2=edge mode(edge mode)
3=face mode(face mode)
4=polygon mode(polygon mode)
5=element mode(element mode)
insert=mode cycle(cycles current mode of vertex edge face etc mode)
t=top view(changes current viewport mode to top view)
f12=transform type in(with move, rotate or scale mode on this will let you edit values of move, rotate or scale)
f4=edge faces(shows edged faces)
[=zoom viewport in(zooms in)
[=zoom viewport out(zooms out)
