DBZ Open RPG

I've been working on a Dragonball Z based Open RPG for quite some time (off and on in my spare time). Lately I've been putting a little more effort into it, and it's actually starting to look pretty nice. I know most people on here don't really like dragonball Z all that much, but if anyone is interested in this project I would really appriciate the help.
I've completed the majorty of the map, but I still need someone to make models for it (I don't think I've seen any good Dragonball models so I assume none of the modelers like dragonball), and I would love to have some creative person make terrain.
I really want to get this project done so I can start on something new, I've been working on this map for far too long.

Anyways, if anyone here would be interested in helping at all, please let me know.
Thanks

EDIT: I almost forgot, a 2D artist would be really helpful; I know I'm getting carried away now, but it can't hurt to try, right? ;)

I'm surely overlooking something, or on the wrong page; I don't see anything dragonball related there at all.

meh, they must have removed it. but those were some really good models.
and about your project, you might want to give some more info, story, game itself etc etc..

Ok, I got the idea when the Final Fantasy open RPG first came out. It works like almost any other Open RPG; you make a character advance him/her in levels and when save and continue later in a different game. I've tried to make the map feel as much like dragonball as possible in warcraft, but to capture the feeling even better I wanted models for key units. I tried my hand a modeling for a while, but sadly I have little artistic skill.

I've created a pretty unique and simple system to handle all the transformation in the map, I'm still looking for a unique way to make my skills system work, like maybe still capsules (i.e.: Dragonball Z Budokai).

Like I said, I have a large portion of the map already finished, I started a checklist of things I wanted and things I've completed, but I hope to add more to the map before all this is over.

Currently the story includes all the movies/sagas before the namek saga (I'll try to explain why later)

If this doesn't explain it enough please give me a more specific idea of what you want to know.

Oh please, not another Dragonball project. These projects are leaving my nose already, every week I check the Team Gathering forum about 2 new DB projects started and about 2 DB project died. I'm really getting sick and tired of this.

Now! There are numberous projects like this, what is special about this one, huh?

Well, I'm not the kind of person to let my project die, thats why I want to put together a team; so I can get this done. I don't come here too often, so I didn't realize that there were that many Dragonball projects here. Like I said though, mine is already mostly done. I can understand if you don't like dragonball, but you should really give me a chance; I've put a lot of work into this map, so surely you can understand my desire to finish it.

EDIT: Before I can say whats special, I'm going to look at some of the other projects like this. They might be doing the exact same thing for all I know, if so I'll just give them my map to finish.

"I'm not the kind of person to let my project die" has been told to me more than often. I am sorry for what you said, but I am the moderator of this section and I daily hear such things. As you surely understand, you can't pay attention to them all.
Not coming here often isn't the worst thing, but I suggest to have multiple ways of having contact with your... project members. Even though I won't stop you (I learned my lesson of stopping projects a while ago...*cough* *cough*) I will say to try and find something else to join first. I've seen too many projects fail - Dragonball had a fair share as well.

Well... if I remember right (which is probably not the case) there is supposed to be one succesful Dragonball mod. Because I pay no attention to Dragonball (nor their mods) I am not really aware of how their progress is going.

After looking at a lot of the projects posted here, I can totally understand what your saying. It seems like most of these projects are just peoples attempts to get people to do the work for them. If the project you mentioned is the only successful dragonball mod, then the odds of my getting a team together are not very good...
But I've spent too much time on this mod to just stop, so I'm either going to just finish the scripts and release it with out models, or keep working on my modeling skills and finish it all.
Thank you for your help.

EDIT: I forgot, as for a way to contact me, I'm almost always on AOL instant messanger, and I can also try to check the Private Messages here as often as possible.

Heh... you might not believe it, but that was the sentence I've been waiting for a long time. Longer than I became the moderator here. It has been a long time ago someone said "I'll finish it by myself otherwise" the way you did.
Like you said yourself, it happens more often that people are asking other people to do all the work and even though there are projects where the Leader does a lot of work, such projects still lack something. Therfore, I enjoy working with a team of people I know I can trust, but it also often come to the point of walking the path alone.

Seeing as I'm a story writer (and nowadays a decent terrainer) I have no way of helping you even if I would. Regardless, I wish you a lot of luck, and I hope someone with quality will join up eventually :) Regardless being it Dragonball :P
Good luck.

Well i wasnt the 1 that was trying 2 take the mood from the guy because he likes dbz, and hes trying 2 make a serius map out of it!!
I hope ull make a good map that is almost as known as supreme rpg NorthStar :)

Oww yeah fladian i wasnt trying 2 be rude or anything but this is a forum that is open for every 1 so dont take the mood from the poor guy when he tries 2 make something ! : ;)

Right, get this straight first InXo. I am not taking the mood from everyone, it is just about my regular reaction to any post out here. Do some research before you go out blattering things to people. Some mods would get quite pissed about this and I've seen people getting warned for the slightest reaction - not necessarily on this forum. Becareful with your words, not everyone has the same patience.

I heavily dislike Dragonball for many personal reasons that one includes of being it "too" popular. I also never mentioned that there are "no good DB projects around," to be more accurate, I said that there is about "1 succesful DB project around," I said nothing else than that. Try to look better before you jump to conclusions.

InXo, remember that this is a modding forum and not a Dragonball forum, Dragonball is not liked by 'too' many people out here. That remains a fact and something you will have to live with. It was just bad luck that he had to encounter a moderator of this section who dislikes Dragonball.

Trying to be "rude" or not, doesn't really say anything to me InXo. You may insult me for anything that is bad, but there is no way anyone here can insult me, personaly. But, even though I don't like it, I am not very fond on being scolded by my superior (Dorelian) so I have to refrain people from doing it -_- If I would be the boss out here, some things would be different, but then again, I would have to name this an off-topic section :P *cough* *cough*

but seriously fladian is right, there is like tons of Dbz maps and they are like all poor quality and if they are called good it is only because they are under popularity effect, the fact that warcraft isnt in any way anime style give those maps a big disaventage... you got to put something like demon hunter to be Goku... why bother getting a Dbz map if you cant even make the characters looks slightly similar to the great work of Akira, as for modellers no one gonna actually model for you unless your famous around the forum, its a proven fact so basically forget modeller + there isnt enough models of Dbz existing to be used, maybe im hard but it is the thruth.. even if you model them yourself, to get both quantity and quality models take too much time, you got to practice a lot

How to get a good project: invent your own story and characters, keep away from a style that cant be reproduced in Wc3 without good modellers

Other than that without offense to any Dbz Worshippers, Dbz is indeed too much under the popularity effect, ive seen plenty of manga and anime 10 or 100 time better than Dbz, just need to get deeper in your exploration of japanesse work
