yes. you could use triggers or something.

but the lazy way would be having the ability with no tooltip and either no icon or "textures/black32"

or use something like the "channel" ability, which has a field for show or not show. Depends on what u wanna do with the ability...

As I know it's only possible with abilities like channel and attribute bonus which have a special field for it and abilities that have ONLY an item version. Other way there will always be an icon even if you change it to black and no tooltip there will still be a tooltip box when you move your mouse over it and it will still count as an icon at this position(You can't place another ability there). I many times tried it and it just isn't possible, I also wrote this in Blizzard forum suggestions but they just don't care... And also with triggers it's not possbile atm...

so if i wanted an ability as a placeholder (so i didn't want it to "show up" at all, but still take a button position to force other abilities into the right places), i could use channel and tell it to not show? Or would that just give the ability but hide it and not take button positions.

Also explain more about that textures/black32 thing. thanks

"textures\black32" is just a completely black icon that has exactly the same colour as the normal background for an empty field.

The problem with it is, that the icon will still be there, so if you hold your mouse over the button it will show an empty tooltip.

To use it just write "textures\black32" in the custom box of where you want the icon.

It would take up no position.

im not really sure, but i think there is an Item-Bash kinda ability .....
and the thing with no-show abilities is so frustrating :))) sometimes you just need to not show the ability....
the other way around is easy tho.... :)
