Feel free to skip this little intro story (designed for cinematic): Old man 1 "The orcs decimated the city! How can you say this is not important?" Old man 2 "This is nothing new, the orcs have raided for years!" Old man "But never before have they used co-ordinated assaults, and MAGIC! They wield the magic of Chaos we believed long gone." Old man 3 "That magic is gone...surely not one of us here believes this to be anything other than what it is: an attempt by you to exhonorate yourself for using the Silver Legion to interfer in the affairs of those outside the Monastary." Old man 1 "The time shall come when you repent those words, and wish that you could turn back the wheel of time. Chaos is returning. We all knew it would - will we be remembered as the ones who let Chaos rull once more?" Old man 4 "Pah, you and your theories. Do you really believe this? Chaos is gone - banished long ago. The Seals have held till now, and shall continue to hold. This meeting is OVER. And I warn you [points at old man 1] - if you continue your scaremongering, we shall have no choice but to expell you from the monastary. I will not have you destroying the fragile peace we have. And from now on, you are relinquished from any control over the Silver Legion, and also our own people - and do not try to interfer with the world outside again! Ripples of Destiny Features: - Compelling, intreaging and interesting story line, where you actions can decide the faits of many, both strangers and those you know. - Fairly unique class and leveling system. = Each of the three main characters can, at any time, chose to be one of 3 classes. = Each class has a set of 6 abilities, which can be trained in anywhere using Ability points, which can be gained through leveling/special events. = Each class's abilities can be further improved by items (using engineering ability), but each item requires a particular level in that class, which can be either trained or raised by a special event. = Each of the stats can also be improved by Stat points, with different bonus amounts for different classes. - Different camera approach - each place has a particular camera angle, changing every few steps. - Probably most combats taking place without any transition - except in the world map, where you will go to a smaller map and then fight there against about 60 creatures, which you can either avoid and leave or fight all of them. - Everything I've missed... Currently, I have most of the ground work for the character development menu's, and combat system won't be very origional i'm afraid, but casting times will play a major role, as spells can be interupted by attacks, and most abilities have casting times. I've done 2 of the 3 classes of the main character, but haven't even started on the other character's classes. In terms of story line, I think I've got the general plot(s) worked out, but not many specifics, but I have decided on the characters. ETA: Don't have any idea. Probably be released in stages, chapters at a time, but I should have the first part ready soon-ish. Depending on if I disappear when WoW open beta starts. |

Update: Ok, despite having to do my GCSE maths coursework, I did the Item support system, along with item saving for the different classes (each class of each character can carry different items). Don't have any items yet though... Got 4 ability ideas for 4 of the 6 abilities needed for the support Warrior class of the main character, I'm going to make them tomorrow maybe and then start on the first combat maps. |

Guest | I liked that little intro piece, it was a nice touch. I think that a good LINEAR RPG would do Battle.net some good. As of now, B.Net is flooded with open RPGs, and in these you rarely accomplish anything. Good job breaking into new territory! Could you describe some of the best items you have thought of so far? I would liek to know and help you brainstorm more. |

Will this be in the veins of console rpgs or more into the style of computer or even pnp rpgs? |

Guest | Make sure to include plenty of cutscenes to move the story along too. |

Ok, odds of this being finished is...low...really low. I can't drag myself away from WoW. However, it is going to be single player with FFish cameras, WC3ish combat, KotORish party member interaction, and then fairly origionalish encounter system (a bit like summoner). |

Back in development! I've forced a break from World of Warcraft, and once that ends I hope to continue development alongside that. Anyway, the Summoner class of one of the other 2 main characters is pretty much done. The summons take 5-20 seconds to summon, with the 20 second one channelled, and then each have some abilities which level up as you increase the spell's level. Other stuff: Begining the in-depth writing of the story. |

Ok, 5 classes are done now (sorceress as well, but still need final ability for her). Sorted out Tanja's menu and fixed item system (no items, just the system for them). Here is the map as it is so far, feel free to test it and see if you like the abilities (yes, i know the balance is screwed, but I want to finish all the classes first). Commands: -leave (goes to combat place) -spawn Run around a bit first and check out the camera. Oh, and remember this: abilities can get interupted and have their casting times reset. Enjoy! |

Okay, WoW is more addictive than I thought, but I'm doing some more work on it now, and getting it going again. Added ranger abilities for Tanja, and that concludes the two main characters abilities for the most part. Now, time to start doing to campaign proper (third main character joins later). |

Captain Griffen, it's nice you are still working on the map, keep it up. I find it great that you are paying attention to the story (even if it is just another world with a prophecy about the return of something ugly that was once banished already :) ), too few maps do that. |

This sounds good, I encourage you to continue. :) |

Actually, the story is a lot more complicated than that...who ever said Chaos is ugly? Also, I'm planning to concentrate a lot on the most important part of any RPG - the characters. Thanks for the support by the way. Really helpful in motivation to know it's actually being noticed. Anyway, here's the cinematic of the city getting razed (my first proper cinematic, and I haven't been map making in a while). |

Okay, got the prologue (introduction) finished I think, apart from finishing touches. Should start work upon the world map and random encounter system tomorrow. |

Progress: - Saving system done, as well as transfer system from map to map (Note: have yet to do the system for working out position in story line or placing of characters in each map. I also have yet to do the loading system, but that should be fairly simple). - Basic triggers now exported, so I can import them into any map I want (this is things like saving systems, menus, etc. etc.). - World map outlined, and a few places added. - Placed in all into a campaign file, and set that up. Next to do: - Random encounter system (only occur in World Map). - World map camera. |
