Okay, I'm having an issue in saving transparencies with PS. I do a skin, great, it works fine... everywhere but the team color areas. I've heard that with some programs, the selection area that needs to remain transparent can be selected; however, it appears that PS doesn't do that/let me do that/it actually does it quite well but I'm too dumb to know how. The end appearance is illustrated by the screenshot: Any help would be very, very much appreciated. |

? it looks fine too me. the transparency is not in the ps, but instead on the model. you'll find some parts on the model alpha is transparent and some is team colour. by looking at your team color you need to use all the black and white swatches (like you do when shading something) i think for more of a dark team glow you use a lighter white and for a brighter team color you use solid black or a shade of black. edit- now loooking at it closely i know what you want to know. as i said above the model itself is the key to alphing things out if indeed that is what you wanted to do. parts in a model are split up in two different meshes. one has team colour enabled and the other mesh has it transparent. all models have this. if you need something alpha'd out but it turns up team color instead you'll need someone with modelling capablitlies to remove the team color or remove the part you want transparent completely. hope this helps. |

Okay, well, let me be a little more specific, since I seem not to have communicated just what was going on before. I didn't touch the model. I would agree, and say yeah, okay, you could be right, but I just recently tried to re-skin trees on my map, and a similar thing happened. Nothing showed up as transparent; all the areas that I saved as black, came out black. I had a bunch of trees that looked like stacked cones. The problem isn't that I tried to alpha anything out. All I did was change the face on Thrall into a skull, turned his wolf white, and turned his arms white. But photoshop didn't save my new model as having any transparent colors; rather, it saved the things I did underneath the saved team color area. For an example, check out the handle of the hammer - solid blue. If it would help to illustrate the problem better, I'll post the skin to show what I did and didn't do. I just don't want it getting swiped. Thanks for the reply. |

Here you go: Skeleton Rider I saved it as a GIF to preserve transparency; I have it as a TGA, and a BLP, on my computer. If you could figure out what it's doing, I'd be eternally grateful... there are a bunch of skins I'm doing for a project I'm working on, and none of them will currently work. Thanks a lot for your time. |

from the gif image it just looks like you used alpha on the the white parts. but thats all i can say youve done wrong looking at the gif. post the blp and ill see what has gone wrong. |

Yeah, I realized afterwards that the GIF would be useless in actually telling anything due to the different save method. I'm going to attach the BLP, the TGA, and the PSD - maybe you'll be able to quickly spot when the process went wrong that way. Again, thanks very much for your time. I really do appreciate it. |

2 attachment maximum, huh? Well, here's the BLP, anyway. Hopefully it'll be of some use. Okay, it refuses to attach. I don't know why, but it does. Hopefully those 2 things will be of some use, anyway. |

lol, ive found your problem there is no alpha channel on this skin. ive fixed the tga, just convert it an it should be fine now. by the way having photoshop 7 did you download the new targa plugin for it? it might be your problem. go here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=1544 and follow the instructions. i believe this is your problem. the retail photoshop 7 didnt support the alpha in the targa plugin, but by downloading this new plugin and replacing it with your old one it will fix your problem! cheers, |
