high-tech terrain

I spend most of my time making high-tech maps, so naturely i'm always having trouble making the medieval stuff in the game by default look good in the terrain i'm doing.

So i went to it last night, making another practice map to see what i could do. It involves no custom models/skins, just custom doodads/destructibles i made.

Well, what do you think?

EDIT: Sorry i didn't get the screens up earlier. Had trouble getting to this site. Also thought up some more ideas on how make this map better, like improving the appearance of the lights. But i'll save that for some other time.

please post screens (i think its part of the terrain forum rules, and if not, ill make it one). the time taken to save and close WE, then reopen it with another map is often too much effort to see someones work. youll get much better crit is you take some screenshots from the kind of angles you think look best, and one overall terrain shot so people can see the overall layout of the terrain and comment on that as well

uh........is this for a map or something because otherwise....well it looks like you took no time and just through some doodads into square rooms.yea.....need alot of work...

to be honest with you, its quite bland. each individual room has nice detail, but what can you do to increase variety and workability in the halls and other places?

maybe you can spice up the hallway more with statues, lights, maybe people.....

needs work, but it looks like its got great potential

Don't take it harsh but those screens are really, really empty.

You need more doodads.
Try adding obelisks/pipes/ any other doodads that would fit with it.

Add more tile variation, pack the map full of doodads so that no spot is bare and yet keep in mind not to keep it cluttered. The idea of this is that you leave spots open that would be accessible and commonly traveled. Other spots may have the random clutter here but don't throw it on and mass it, just prceisly place a few doodads to what you think looks good.

Bland and empty...there needs to be more stuff around to give character to each part - I'm not really a terrainer, but I would think asking yourself the question "how would you want your home decorated?" (though of course, this is not a home...just substitute "home" for whatever) would be a good way of ensuring there is taste and beauty to any terrain...

it looks just like an old starcraft installation map...

but i'm sure you can make it good.

Wow, I really like that, maybe you could make it look a little more new age with some doodad changes, but altogether it looks like a nice bunker complex
