Well, I just started doing some custom art for my maps and it was going well with icons, but now my first skin gives me trouble. Basically, I exported the sentinel skin (the one the huntress uses) and edited it, then saved it with a new filename and reimported it. I also exported the model, modified the texture path to the new skin and imported it into the map as well. Changed the texture path to the one I set the model to use. Saved map, closed the editor and reopened it. Did everything by the book. Now it gets wierd. When looking at the skin in the editor, it doesn't look right. Closer examination shows me that part of it is correct: the main cat&rider mesh uses the new skin properly. The armour mesh, however, is comepletely black. The blades mesh, on the other hand, is comepletely transparent. I suppose the problem is with the materials. The model has multiple materials that use the main skin, I suppose a different material for each mesh: these materials have different properties. That would explan why they display the same skin in different ways. However, they don't display the original skin in different ways, they display it right. So, I suppose my skin isn't saved/converted properly. What did I do wrong? I converted the skin to bmp with war3viewer, edited it in photoshop 6.0, saved it as 32bit tga and converted it back to mdl. Further experimenting showed that saving it as a 24bit .tga and then adding an opaque alpha channel when converting (the same method I used when my icons wouldn't show up right) improoves matters: the skin displays right on all meshes, however, there is no teamcolor anymore. EDIT: I tried to do as much as I could before posting here, but obviously not enough. Right after I posted I did another check: when exporting, I didn't save the file as a BMP, but as a TGA, and suddenly I have an alpha channel there that I didn't have before. :/ This will probably solve my problem now. EDIT 2: Forgot about some other problem: in-game, the portrait camera on the new model is off, not showing the face of the huntress anymore, don't know why, I didn't edit anything else on the model than the texture it used... |
