I am currently making a map called Take Flight. It has a unique gameplay using flying machines. I already made the controls and some general weapons in it. Moving flying machines will require the use of arrow keys. The use of the mouse will be rare if you're using a flying machine. Weapons like missiles and grenades will obey the general laws of motion. Before I proceed further in map making, I would like to know what kind of map people would like to play. I have two ideas: A godzilla like map where Ancients fight humans, or a map where two teams of flying machines with two huge airships fight each other. Please vote in the poll. |

I don't want to vote on one or the other, because both sound like fun. However, from a purely practical standpoint, I think fighting giant lumbering ancients is more practical, since they make for a bigger target, and specific targeting in Warcraft 3 can be tricky, especially if you're camera-locked on a moving unit. |

Guest | The Godzilla thing, will it be like a Battrol attacking a ancient? |

airplane fleet vs. fleet, you can even make it starcraft like ships, like protoss vs. terran cuz ther are a lot of them to dl from w3sear.ch |

I don't know what a Battrol is, so I will give some detail about the godzilla like ancients. In the ancients vs. humans, each side has a choice to win the game by making a special weapon. The ancients have a tree missile, and I'm not sure what the humans will have. When you comlete the construction of the tree missile, you can see a cinematic of a tree rocket. If no one makes these special weapons, you can just destroy each other manually. By the way, helicopters are very fast. The map is "endless" because of my end of the world trigger. You can just go "around" the world to get around faster. |

The helicoptors do not use regular unit attacks. It uses machine guns, etc. Four weapons has been made, maybe more later if i feel like it. |

Ah I give up. I don't care what others think now. I get very little feed back so now I will just start the map. |

Appears you have a deadlock vote. The godzilla one sounds cool, simply because it sounds fairly original, and has the oppurtunity for some cool ideas. Nice sig by the way ^_^ |

Okay, the game looks like it will be impossible to make unless someone knows how to remove the lag caused by the repeated teleport for movement. If there is no way, then the map will be less then 10 mins and/or 1-2 helicopters per game. Any suggestions? Another plan is to not make this map. Go back to KillingEdge I think I should give more details about the godzilla thing. The ancients are gigantic, and each different ancient has their own special ability. One of them can sprout trees so helicoptors can crash into them. Another ancient can create glaciers and junk to slow down movement. There is also a line freezing spelll thing and a homing projectile. I also plan to make some kind of wind control to make air currents to blow airplanes. The helicoptors has shooting grenades, missiles, machine gun and a sword similar to Einhander. The airplanes have custmizable equipment to buy different booster types and junk. You can also crash into tall buldings, be especially careful when boosting. :god_help_us: Look at him dance! ^_^ |

Let's see how you're managing movement. Post your work here. |

Yes, it's much easier to fix the lag if we can see the triggers. This is just my opinion, but i'm usually pretty good at keeping the lag down with triggers. |

I dont have the exact trigger so I will give a general idea, because I dont have warcraft installed right now. If you really do need the trigger, then it will be a while. (I dont know how to use text like jassers or whatever their called): Event - repeating timer (20 times per second) expires Action - move unit function for your flying machine and other units associated with it. That isn't the exact trigger, it's actually much more complex. The problem is that more than one unit will use this tirgger. Just think how many teleportations there will be with more than 10 units doing this for more than 10 minutes. that's A LOT. I think the blizzard cart racing might have done something like this too. It's the only way to make a unit move faster than 522 per second, but their movement looks rough. If I do that too, it might help, but it looks weird. It's hard to pick a good number to make it smooth but not too frequent. The map size is at least 196 or whatever # it's supposed to be. The game has relatively few units, but it starts to lag about 4 mins into the game. I don't know how many doodads there are, but I estimate less than 500. :god_help_us: |

Guest | I think that you should make a battle of britain thing with custom models and stuff, or some future helicopter war. In the least you should make it so that you always have to maintain a forward velocity in a plane |

Ok, eaach team has a GIANT Blimp that acts as the base. The idea is that you've been hired to guard the blimp, which is carried valuable supplies. That is when the Ancients intervene. You need to fend off enemies air cruisers while dodging strikes from giant ancients ^_^ You could have a funny cinematic when an ancient dies: "NO, I muust proteecctttt AAAAsssshhheennnnvaalleeeee, *Fart* KABOOOM" Ancient is no more So basicly you need to defend the slow moving blimp from one end of the map to the other, it stops only twice for the whole trip for minor repairs and tune ups. The object is to succesfully defend your Blimp while making sure you get some good hits o the enemies. You can also buy ships from the blimp that "deploy" themselves automaticly (The computer directs them towards the enemy) It may sound like an AoS, but you don't get spawns, you need to save up to buy ships, which are quite expensive. The game would also be geared toward expansion, you can upgrade your ship at the central command deck and outfit yourself with different weapons. You can also buy tunes ups for the blimp, so it can better defend itself. So, to sum it up, you need to defend a slow moving blimp while keeping the ancients at bay, it would be quite a task, but it would be fun if you could achieve it.PS. I'm not voting, as both ideas are nice. |
