I want to make a tower that has it's normal attack as the Carrion Swarm spell, so basically it fires Carrion Swarms instead arrows or boulders or whatever. I think I've been told this is possible with using some kind of Orb of Lightning ability and attaching the spell to it.. or something. Anyway im confused about the whole thing and I cant get it working. If anyone knows an easy way to make a tower fire Carrion Swarms, or if anyone can explain this Orb of Lightning thing in lamen's terms, it would be greatly appreciated. |

what you mean the missle art of carrion swarm or actualy cast that ability? |

he means actually cast the spell... well there are 2 ways i can think of (in theory) - The carrion swarm does 75 dmg 1) give the tower dmg type=spells, att type=missel (line), base=74, dmg number of dice=1, dmg sides per dice=1 and art as carrion swarm. 2) give him orb of lightning (new)... the thing about the orb of lightning spell is that it allows you to have a % chance of casting a targetable* spell of your choice. all you do is set the spell to carrion swarm and set the spell cast % to 100%. both of them should work, but its only in theory. *= Targetable spell meaning you cant have thunderclap or blizzard etc. |

i dont think either of them will work the first one will just attack looking like it not actaully attacking everything in its path. the 2nd one it has a chance on casting a targetable spell. i dont think carrion swarm is targetable. you just cast it on the ground and it goes. |

I'm not sure, my orb of lightning thing is a bit buggy and crashes once in a while. But anyway, you can just do this Unit is attacked Unit type of attacking unit = carrionswarmer Order attacking unit to undead dreadlord - carrion swarm position of attacked unit. Then if the unit doesn't attack anymore (happens sometimes), simply include this. Wait (cooldown of attack) Order attacking unit to attack move to position of attacking unit. And I don't think you can "think" if anything doesn't work without trying it (after all, people are suggesting, you shouldn't discount their suggestions without verification). |

Guest | I see two possible ways of doing this: 1. As was mentioned, using one of the orbs eg orb of lightning. Take the orb of lightning ability and change it so that it is not an item ability, but is a unit ability. Give that ability to your tower. Now one of the fields for the ability says "ability enabled" or something like that - in the case of the lightning orb ability, that enabled ability is "purge". Change that to carrion swarm. Also you'll probably want to change the percentage that this ability is used to 100% (I think the original value is something like 5%). You'll have to change a few other bits and pieces in the fields to suit your needs eg taking away the bonus damage that the orb gives. That should solve your needs. 2. Give the tower zero attack, but give it an autocast dummy ability - eg an altered faerie fire that does not reduce armor, and lasts for zero duration (also alter the mana cost and cooldown to suit). Then trigger it so that everytime this dummy ability is cast, carrion swarm is cast towards the target of the dummy ability. Hope that helps. EDIT: and I'm pretty sure that carrion swarm is a unit-targetable spell, because when I use the dreadlord in the game, I distinctly recall the target cursor coming up. |

imwithsstupids, you are confused. the attack type "missle (line)" makes attacks go through multiple units... giving the damage type magic will make spell immune units wont be effected... this should successfully replicate carrion swarm. with the carrion swarm & orb of lightning, carrion swarm is both ground targetable and unit targetable. |

Orb of Lightning for teh win. Now if only there was a way to make it display the normal version of the appointed spell button, rather then the disabled one, I'd be a happy camper. for now, I import custom buttons with the DISBTN looking exactly the same as the BTN. |
