Your best bet is trying to recreate a relatively simple map you get off battle.net. That is how most people learn. To be honest, even if there is a newbs guide to triggering, it wouldn't help you as much as just trying to get things to work and asking questions when you come to a road block. Rule of thumb is to try and spend 10-15 minutes trying to figure it out before asking. |

I agree - I reckon that by experimenting, you learn more, you find more stuff that you may not need now, but may use in the future, and you remember it better. Given the complexities of most maps out there, to create a newbs guide to triggering would be complex to say the least - because there's too much different stuff that you can do. Trial and error, looking at unprotected maps and other maps, and asking intelligent questions - that's my opinion on how to learn best. |

In my opinion.. the worst possible way to learn is to read off a tutorial. The best way is to actually try and experiment with triggers. Honestly.. a good start is to know how the 3 parts of a trigger works. The Event, Condition, and Action. From there, most of the basic triggering is very straight forward since the editor puts everything into words. |

lol, all good suggestions, i guess, but how i learned was taking maps apart, then i learned the difference between those 3(event condition and action) and what they did. at first, you should also attemp to just try random junk on maps and you'll eventually learn more and get ebtter with them, thats how i got where i am now ^_^ |

First, try to make a simple map like a tower defense. Youll run into a few problems, which is expected. So, just ask 'em here. Then as you get more profecient and you finish up the TD, you can expand your skills by working on an RPG. By the time you finish that you'll be farmiliar with almost the entire WE, so its just striving for more effecient code from that point onwards. (Also, youll be able to trigger almost anything you want to ) |

tower defences are not simple btw. i think they are one of the hardests maps to do next to LOAP tpyes of maps. witch tower defence maps are mostly creating the custom units. but it can still be hard. If you wnat an easy map, footie wars. if i coulve come up with that idea i coulve done it in like a day. oh well gl. remeber WE puts all the triggers in english. it does EXACTLY what you tell it to do. |

I learned through trying to create wierd maps like Sol's RPG, and Hero Arenas. Tutorials DO help though, they were the easiest way for me to learn how to do the really difficult things. :) |

Guest | This reminds me of something really stupid i did in a campaign im working. I couldnt get the game cache to work, but then i realized i had forgotten to put the "create game cache" action in the first map. LOL |
