Guest | i've thought of changing an mdl.. and know nothing really about them, but before i start i'd first like to know if this is going to screw up my game? cuz i dont want to mod my game.. i just want to mod my map only because i play warcraft on bnet all the time with random team ladder.. also if it messes with the nature of the warcraft 3 game than that means that wont other people have to modify their warcraft game to play my map to see the model changes? i just want to keep it strictly map-changes so that anyone in this multiplayer map can download on bnet and play instantly without them doing anything special on their end. |

Importing an mdx file into your map will not affect your game, it will only affect your map. As I said to you yesterday in the other thread you posted, you would be well advised to take a quick scan through some of the tutorials in the modelling and animation forum, if only to get a feel and understanding of what you are getting yourself into. - And as I said, think about it this way, people play games like DotA and ToB, each of which utilises numerous custom models - if you have played those maps, then surely you can see that your game itself has not been affected. |

oh, i keep thinking that that some mods require the game to be edited. i remember back in warcraft 2 there was a starcraft mod that required an overhaul to the whole game.. so if you wanted to play it again normally, you'd have to reinstall. |

warcraft 2 and warcraft 3 are much different so no editing an mdl and reconverting to an mdl doesnt affect the game it affects the map the mdl is imported into |
