"Assistants" Needed For *Simple* Campaign: Storyweavers

02-12-2005, 03:27 PM#1
Arriba!
I tried this idea before... however, sickness and a lack of team communication and dedication killed it.

Allow me to set the scene...

We have an extremely powerful map editor and ccampaign tool, through which it is possible to create a limitless number of single player campaigns based in the world of Azeroth, in the time period of Warcraft III.

However, we produce very, very few campaigns... whY? Many would say due to the low success rate from the initail posting of the idea to the finished product... for which many reasons are given. Need modellers! Need skinners! Need <<Insert rare commodity>>!

So, thus appears, from the bare rock, my Storyweavers.

For those disinclined to read through swarms of text, here's the core point: The aim of my project is to, within a short timeframe, produce a small, fun, playable campaign set in the world of Azeroth in the time period of Warcraft 3.

No extra races. No new models. No new units. No complexities.

Just me, a team, a worldeditor and a decent amount of work over two weekends

If your reading this, it is likely you find this prospect appealing in some way, shape or form. Therefore, here comes the extended version of what is above, with project details, requirements, ideals and goals.

The Storyweaver Project

Goals:

1. Gather team
2. Write an attractive, fun short storyline for a Warcraft 3 campaign
3. Define maps required to create storyline.
4. Assign Tasks
5. Compile work
6. Test work
7. Correct Work
8. Publish work
9. Advertise work.

Ideals I will be sticking to:

First of all, the most important thing to the Storyweaver project is that everyone knows that I (the Project Lead for now) am not work shy. If nobody applies to work with me, I will carry one and create a campaign... then try again using my previus work to try and gain more interest.

Second: Any team assembled will be keeping in close contact, by the use of forums, IRC and MSN.

Three: Whenever there is the option, the simpler, less time confusing one will be taken.

Four: The finished project will be of good quality.

Five: Each team member actively contributes. While the PL is, overrall, in charge of the project, he will not be the overlord and demand this and that. He will offer you the skeleton and tell you to stick to it: This is very much still a group project

I believe I paraphrase Magic when I say that most SC campaigns that were completed had 80-90% of the work done by the PL. I a willign to make that happen.

How can I help this?

I am looking for:

Competant storywriters, with knolwedge of the WC universe.

Terrainers and triggers (Preferably, individuals who can do both) that agree with the ideals of the project and are willing to work over the next 2 week-ends or so.

Preferably someone who is a specailist in cinematics.

Fanboys

At a later date (Please do not apply now):

Beta-testers

A "publicist": Should we produce something of quality, I would like it to be used.

At an even later date (pending on success of projec,t please do not apply now in the thread, but send a PM to me if interested):

Somebody to put together a website for the Storyweaver's projects
A group of voice actors to voice a Special Voiced Edition of completed Storyweaver projects.

How to apply for availible positions:

Post here.
Send a PM.
Visit the forum (turn your beady eyes downwards)
Find me on IRC (Simply go from the home page... chat... wc3c general chat... then be patient. You'll get there. I'm Arriba.)

When does work start?

Now.

In approximately 2 hours I will be back with the address of an external forum we will be using for our first project.

In approximately 3 or 4 hours I will be attempting to write the bare bones of a story, with or without help.

Approximately tomorrow I will begin work on the first map.

Approximately in 8 days time I will be looking for beta testers.

In round about a weeks time after that, i will be publishing the map here.

A week after, I will begin the process again.

Please, if you are interested, sign up as soon as possible.

I would be willing to do some terrain, I can also do most types of triggering including cinematics. If you could actually get a campaign done in two weeks or so I would be very impressed. If need be I could also write a storyline but I don't particullary want to as I would be taking way to many jobs in that sense.

I could do almost all triggering, but im worried that im going to be away about 4/5ths of the time during week, so use me at your own risk ;)

Just one thing: what are you doing? Other then leading the project?

I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear: I'm doing everything: Terraining, triggering, etc. etc. The mules share of the work.

Except, my apologies, but I have to put it on hold.

My father has been taken ill and I can't commit time this week any more.

I can help witht the story when you're ready; I know a good bit of the Warcraft storyline and am a pretty good writer when it's asked of me. I hope your father gets well soon!

Oh yeah; if you REALLY need it i can do some terraining, but you're better off getting someone else to do it...
