Boats Error

Genesis of Empires 1 encounters a "Memory could not be read" error now and again when boats are used (I crashed occasionally when selecting them from hotkeys, ordering them, or other general interactions with the unit)- I've narrowed it down to something about the boats in the map, not any triggers or other units and such. For Genesis of Empires 1, I tried many different routes to get rid of the bug short of deleting boats from the map permanently. But GoE1 is finished, now, so...

I'm in the process of developing the units for Genesis of Empires 2, or whatever it'll be called. I'm just about finished with the fighting units, sans boats. I'm wary of adding them again due to the error.

Has anyone else seen another map that often crashes WC3 when boats are in heavy use like this?

No, but try making the boats from scratch.

I'm never going to solve the problem in GoE1, as it is 'done,' never to be updated again version-wise. I did, however, remake all the units more than once in GoE1, each time using a different base for the unit. I also attempted editing nearly every movement property in the unit, testing with with even different movement types. I spent a good 20 hours on that problem, never could find anything to call a 'cause.'

But if you haven't seen another map that does this, it is encouraging- GoE1 is the only map I've personally seen do this as well, hopefully I'll be able to continue with my 'preferred' unit branch plan.
