Well, you all seem to be a bunch of sensible people My Warcraft III - FT shuts down after displaying the start-cinematics. I also tried to run the Warcraft III before I installed the FT expansion, same thing happened. I've tried to run it before and after applying the newest patch. I've tried to install it different places. Deleting unused registry. Applying different cracks. Nothing has helped so far. Does anyone know anything about this? By the way if I run it after applying the patch, then my screen turns much brighter. P.S: I'm reinstalling the game, cuz I needed to change cd-key. Not sure if I put it in the right forum. Or if it's right to ask here, but I really need some help! |

Guest | Have you tried skipping the cinematic (this used to happen all the time to my James Bond game. before/after the video was over it would crash, but if I skipped the cinematic it worked perfectly!) Hope this helps.. PS, I think i wne t and went back in time, as i refer to it.. It's like doing a system recovery exept you dont loose any info it just cleans everything and makes stuff work. I believ if you go to the control panel --> Performance and Maintenance --> System --> (i think) system restore. (i have windows XP) I think that's how I did it. But try the reinstall first. Also it might besomething with the media format of the cin. mabe your computer isnt updated enough for this kind of format. |

Guest | You don't need to reinstall anything. Would it just shut down Warcraft III with no error message or did it pull up an error messsage? If it pulled up an error message, look through your triggers and any other triggers that go along with the cineamtic and make sure something wacky is in it. That's about the best I can do, as I can't explain every crash error or I would be here all day. |

No error message. And how do I skip the cinematics? Is there any string that I can add to the shortcut destination? And I've reinstalled it several times with different CDs. And system restore has always been on o_O |

Just discovered an error message: This application has encountered a critical error: FATAL ERROR! Program: c:\games\warcraft iii\war3.exe Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:00000000 The instruction at '0x00000000' referenced memory at '0x00000000'. The memory could not be 'read'. |

Guest | It may be because of some illegal imported file, check to see that they are all valid. |

After reading your post more I must say your as screwed as I am. I'm considering buying a better box just so I can use the editor, not to mention play WoW and WC3. First off, its gonna crash on you after playing anywhere from in between 5 to 15 minutes.... I even ripped out those skanky DivX codecs.. no help. And ugh, the map editor crashes way too much. So, anyone reading this.... I hate Blizz for this. It sucks when Colonization runs (a lousy 32bit game) and WC games not to mention the editor suck nads! |

Uh guys, i think he's talking about the cinematics that appear before each of the campaigns or when you start the game. You know, the one with medivh running in and trying to get king terenas to help him and the one with the footie and the grunt fighting and they get whapped by an infernal? If i'm wrong, then is it a custom map or a blizzard map? |

Its the cinematics at the start where the grunt and footman fight, where the infernal interrupts. |

In that case, try clearing out WCIII completely, no WCIII files anywhere on your computer and attempt to reinstall. If that dosnt work then press escape when the movie starts, it should skip it. If its still crashing, then check and make sure your drivers are up to date, then run a disk defragment if they are. If its STILL not working, then make sure you have enough RAM and disk space (at least 100 meg on your C Drive, more is preferable) |

The only thing that I haven't tried yet is the disk defrag. And as I said before, I played War3 normally on this computer before the reinstall. |
