Another question... I think about using few kinds of pencils to get a different types of shading ... Is it a good idea?? |

You can use only one as well. Instead of asking, just try first, different pencils aren't that expensive. |

Unless you're pro you will only need HB pencil imo ;) |

STick to normal hb pencils for now. I know this girl with tons of greyscale pencils... and she aint better than me since you have too much tools at ur disposal. Unless you know exactly what your doing then yea but til then stick to the normal pencil. |

well i do have shitload of pencils but 3/4 were bought for graphism classes (it was on the list) and we dont even use it... i dont use them all either... however i must admit its cool to have an arsenal of pencil to use, when you want to try something you can... after all art is not only drawing with grey pencils, in all my picture i use a 3h or 4h then i go with my mechanical pencil (better precision than a normal HB) and thats all, sometime i go Straight with a Black Fineliner, when i feel like trying something new i use a bunch of thing but it end crappy in 99% of the cases... afford pens if you can and want to experiment, personnaly i prefer to buy this rather than a game so it doesnt matter, its not more of a waste of money My Arsenal now: 6h to 6b pencils 12 Cool Grey Markers 100% to 10% Wood color pencils (120) (i got Gold, Bronze and Silver!!) CYMK Markers 6 Black Fineliners 2 Red Fineliners Alchool Markers Japaness Pencil with Ink (i love it but cant use it correctly for now...) 10 Brushes (used with ink, i love this as well on glass paper) over $250 of stuff so like i said until you really want to try the tools like me stick with the HB pencil, 3h is a must have unless you are 100% confident and sure about what you do and even there its nice to have it around, it cost like $1 so get one, mechanical pen are like what... 5$, no need to ever sharpen it, with those you can draw easily for a big total of 6 bucks |

i usually use a ball point pen to sketch stuff. i like using pen cuz you can't erase it. forces me to either be really loose or really conserve my lines. if you learn to handle the pressure you can get some pretty sick renderings with it too. |

wahahaha! im a nazi now :P and yea well i should get more motivation, i dont post everything i do however, when you screw a drawing because you tried something, it kinda suck so i dont post it... next year ill start a drawing frenzy, ill be done with my classes and i will work so... Graphism Graphism Draw Draw! back to the old 6 hours of drawing in a row, im gonna explode with so much creation... but whatever |

i usually carry around a regular .5 mechanical pencil, .5 and .1 pigment liners, a eraser, and a blue sharpie.... what i have at my home is like.... the whole set of cool grey and warm grey prisma colors. that i don't use often.... and charcol... |

I use sometimes a ballpoint pen for inking. But rarely. I draw and shade only with propelling pencils. |

I have some sets of HB, 2B and 2H pencils, few .1, .3 and .5 markers and loads of papers and none of patience :) Plus loads of aquarel (spelled right?), acrylic and oil colours. It's not about the arsenal, but inspiration. Usually using very light lines of 2H to bring in the general form and then strengthening my lines with HB and final touch with 2B. Don't really know if it's anything you're sown in any class, but for my pictures I do them as I please, not as some people tells me to. So drawing and being artistic is really up to you, no pencils or opinions can make you better. |

I use a few pencils, I have 4H, 3H, 2H, HB and 2B only. I said I've just start to draw about 3 months ago. I'm 15 years old right now so i have much time to practice. Thank you all for your posts but i have one more request. Can someone use one of your own drawings [or other, doesnt matter] and show on it where on this picture u have used what kinds of pencils [I use only pencils]? Off-topic In my country pencils cost 1,5 zl (about 40 eurocents) because i live in Poland... ^_^ |

You should do your drawing with only one kind of pencil... that would be a lot simplier... |

Well technically if you aim for the 3h, hb method the 3h should be under the hb now, you do the whole thing in 3h and retrace with hb over the lines you want, cannot really post an example since it the 3h isnt apparent |
