Help with new weapon problem

I need some suggestions on how to prevent a weapon from firing thru terrain on a water map. It is based on Phoenix fire right now.
I have made torpedos but they need to have a long range. My problem is they shoot thru the ground.
Is there something in the object editor that will stop this?
I don't know much about pathing but in the view menu there is a ground path and a naval path that can be displayed is there some way I can use this pathing?

Thanks for any help

try making the torpedo a unit, add a locust and chaos abilities to make it uselectable and have pathing. now make sure its invalnurable and has 0.10 selection circle scale.
now you can launch it and move it thrugh triggers (+100 for each second)
if you notice that his order at any time becomes stop then it has something in front of it, destroy the torpedo (make sure it has AOE damage ability).

Could you get me started with the triggers?
I'm just getting started with that aspect of mapping.
