Guest | Searching through the forums and on wc3sear.ch I have found numerous Diablo and Diablo II maps, but never something new, something original, do we always have to use other ideas? I have decided to start my own project called Diablo III, it will be a follow up to Diablo II obviously. Here is a brief story. As Tyrael is destroying the World Stone, a tentacle a Baal's quickly pops up out of the ground and drags Tyrael down into the Underworld, Hell. He manages to completely destroy the World Stone luckily. As he is being dragged down, he attempts to fight, but to no avail, and yells to you. Tyrael: "Hero! You must return to the Mephisto's Durance and reopen the portal to Hell. Hurry you must free me from the Underworld or all will be lost!" Well I'm not quite sure what 'all' is yet, but that is what I have so far. So you start off in Kurast, there are lots of people there trying to rebuild it. You must travel back to the Durance, but a few of Diablo's minions still remain wondering about. After you reopen the portal to Hell, you are back in the Pandemonium Fotress, but this time you must travel to Baal's lair in Hell. You are unsure how, but Deckard Cain is there again to assist. I'm not sure to go from here. I am really looking for more development ideas for continuing from here, what should happen? How do we get to Baal's lair? etc. Also looking for item ideas and hero ideas (which old ones should I use, new ones?). Terrainers are always welcome as well. I hope to be using Lord Vexorian's newest Inventory system because it is the closest to Diablo's and one of my favorite. Which now allows for item sets, gems, runes, etc. Any and all ideas are welcome. So I'm basically looking for: Terrainer possibly. Someone to help with development. Item and Hero ideas. (abilites, etc) |

I can help you with this, I've also started with a Diablo II map, you might want to use something from that, the cave entering and leave are very nice on it ;) |

You say people use other guys ideas? Well if you havn't noticed you are using areas from Diablo II and i'm sure you weren't the guy that made Blizzard make those places. And what about poor Diablo? Dosn't he have any role? After all he is the most important.. eeeh.... 'thing' in the game! And after all he dosn't summon waves of monsters from the areas your hero has been thorugh. He fights all himself! And he dosn't flee trough a throne to make you follow him and thereafter suprise attack you! So call it Baal I if Diablo dosn't play any important role! |

I agree with ufo. What if you have to go to a new area, to get a soulstone to open a portal to hell, and a Boss has this soulstone. While you doing that, someone revives Diablo in hell, and you meet him at the end |

Guest | Sorry, havent been around, but I have a little while to post. I see everyone's point about not having diablo, so what I think I will do is call it Baal's Vengeance, just tied into the Diablo I and II storyline. Items will all be different, but mechanics will be the same or similar, I can have item sets, uniques, rares, no magic because it takes too long, maybe a few normal items with random bonuses, we'll see and of course runes and gems. Probably charms and things, too. Same item slots as well. I can do all of the objects (items and heroes) and all of the item triggers and most of the other triggers. What I really need are hero ideas, item ideas, and a terrainer. Maybe another triggerer as well to lighten my load. I'm trying my best to keep things as unique as possible while at the same time keeping some familiarity with the Diablo series. This will be a 6 or 8 player map, I have not decided yet. But yes, multiplayer. EDIT: My bad, I missed your last post Zoxc, I like that idea of having to find a new soulstone to reopen a different portal, I think I might go in that direction rather then back to Kurast and the Durance, but we will have to build on that idea. |

I have a better idea. You start at a new place (or island) where your town is and after a quest you are being invaded by one of Diablo's Minons, You find out (maybe with the help of Cain) that someone (or something) had revied Diablo in Hell. Then out got to find the soulstone(s) and go to hell to kill Diablo. This way you cound call it Diablo III ^_^ Count me as a triggerer ;) |

In other words, Diablo has as many lives as a cat. |

Guest | I like the idea, but I'm going to have to go with Fladian in asking Diablo has as many lives as a cat? I would prefer to stick with my Baal idea, but I may incorporate your idea. Maybe you find out from someone (not sure who; someone new - no Cain) that Baal was able to make one last attempt and actually succeeded in capturing Tyrael while he was destroying the World Stone, I think I'll stick with Baal's Vengeance as well. Zoxc, it would probably be easier to talk about further ideas for what to go and triggers we may need via email rather than posting here so many times. My email is [email protected], LMK. |

Interesting idea, but the fact remains that Diablo isn't dead. As stated in the manual, the soulstones enable the imprisonment of the three Prime Evils. During the Dark Exile, the Prime Evils were exiled to earth; however, they kept no form (it is safe to assume they remained as ethereal beings or simply spirits. This form, however, does not impair their ability to wreak havoc). The soulstones served as an 'anchor' that held their spirits to the mortal world, enabling the Horadrim to imprison them. Note that it is through the soulstones that Diablo and his brothers manage to posess human bodies. As stated by Izual in the first quest of act 4, the dark exile was a plan of the Prime Evils. We could assume that only through this way would they be able to enter the mortal plane with physical shape. The fact remains that the destruction of the soulstones does not affect the spirits of the Prime Evils. As said by Deckard Cain upon destroying Mephisto's soulstone, all you have done is sent Mephisto's soul back to the depths of hell. Mephisto would be incredibly weakened in the process, but not killed. <End Diablo geek rant> Remember, this is what I believe. It might be wrong, but I have seen that parts of the manual, as well as character speech point towards this hypothesis. Anyways, it is possible that I am terribly wrong :). GL and all of the best with your map, Evil-Tormenter |
