Guest | First of all I would like to say hello to everyone. I just bought Wc3 RoC and FT yesterday so I'm new to this game. I'm loving it so far and I already started looking for maps and mods to download. While I was searching I bacame aware that are quite a few terms related Wc3 maps that I don't understand so here it goes: - What is a Trigger Map? - In what way it is different from a melee map? - What is a cinematic? Just a regular cinematic or is it playable? - Are these maps just for Multiplayer or can I play them in SP? - How do I install new Campaigns? |

Well, nice to meet you then, LuxInBlood. I'm Fladian, the moderator of the Team Gathering forum. Regardless, even though I have been here for quite a while, I still don't know everything, so, I guess I'll shoot some answers at ya' ;) 1. What's a Trigger Map. Probably a map that only exists out of triggers. Triggers are eh... things that can trigger an event, and let certain things happen. From a unit moving to a tree falling down and using the game cache (saving a character). 2. In what way is it different from a melee map? Melee maps is a player against an other player game, with no specific triggers that will appear. When you play the game and a cinematic will occur, then that is done by triggers, in melee games something like that won't happen. As a wild example, of course. 3. What is a cinematic? Just a regular cinematic or is it playable? What are you exactly understanding as a "regular cinematic"? A cinematic is like a small movie that is naturally, unplayable and only watchable. 4. Are these maps just for Multiplayer or can I play them in SP? Some people create maps for multiplayer business and some create them for single player, I don't think I have to explain more than that. 5. How do I install new Campaigns? Oh, well, I haven't done that for quite a while. You said you had TFT, so that'll be easier. If I'm not mistaking, there should be a folder named 'Campaigns' in your Warcraft folder. If it's right, IF you download a 'new Campaign' it should be a 'Campaign' file and be placed in that map. Well, if there's anything more, I'm sure the people here are willing to answer, if not, then I will if I happen to be around :) Enjoy your time here at wc3c... come to think of it, seeing as I still got some time anyway, I might as well explain some other things as well. The different subforums that are available is a golden rule you will have to remember. Let's start with this, Site Discussion. Site Discussion This thread is actually not in the right place, Site Discussion is a forum that is made to discuss anything that has to do with the site. Anything that has to do with yourself as an individual is supposed to go in the off-topic section. Campaign/Team Discussion Or the Team Gathering, in short. Well, I am free to say you are welcome to come in, seeing as I moderate that area :P It is a forum that exists to gather teams for people to start a project, like starting a campaign. You are able to either create, or join a project there. But whatever you do, read the FAQ first if you want to create a thread there :P (if you want to join any, which I'll doubt you do at the moment, read the thread: "Projects in Development" first :P) General Development Any questions about the development of maps (not game problems) can be asked here except Terrain Questions and Trigger Questions. Trigger Haven Like General Development, Trigger Haven is similar in many ways. Except that Trigger Haven is specialized in trigger questions. Any question about triggers is supposed to go here. The AI/JASS Vault Is this still alive? Well, I haven't visited that since... well, since a long time. It's probably the AI and JASS, a higher class of triggering, in a way. Anyone who knows more about JASS can explain this better, I'm just keeping the mood in the Team Gathering forum :P But seriously, I never saw this forum :P Terrain Forum Like Trigger Haven, this one is specialized in one subject. Terrain, terrain and only terrain, nothing else. Cinematic Support Last time I visited this was... well, Christmas of 2003. It's about the help for cinematics. Off-topic Section (Lamers Corner) Everything and I mean EVERYTHING that is not supposed to be placed in ANY of the other forums should be placed there. Becareful though, mad people like RightField and WormSkull dwell that place and they can make some... exceptional remarks, don't get mad at them for being who they are. All others (sub)forums are probably speaking for them selves. Well, have fun on this forum, 'hope to see more of you ^^ -Fladian |

Mad. Me? Oh FINE. Now you get branded as MAD just because you act like an induvidual instead of a sheep in the crowd. Where has all the love gone? I'm dandy, and fine. Thank you. |

Did you prefer crazy? :P I was just using the quickest and most accurate word I could think of at that moment :P |

I'm not the one applying anime advice to real life situations. Take a look in the mirror, and you'll see Mr. Crazy. Har har. |

If you bother bashing something then I am seriously wondering who is the one named 'crazy' here. And you cannot talk about someone else's experiences either, so please, spare me, RightField, I don't feel like arguing again. |

I'm not bashing, I'm only doing only some slightly teasing self defense. (Notice the har har.)Seriously, it doesn't really take much to piss you off these days, screwed up something more again or just having a bad day eh? |

Alright, bashing in general then :P (not at this moment) I guess I'm just tired. Since my job started I have been having very little contact with an amount of friends outside MSN. Except for the weekends, but even then we don't have too much contact. I'll be back to my normal self in probably 5 weeks though... by then I'll probably have my mind full of numbers :P (I work at an administration office) EDIT: Oh yeah, and my date was canceled yesterday at the last moment. Could be I might be more annoyed by it then I think. |

Then there you go. Talking about it helps. Peace. |

Nah, it's not like I had to tell someone it to be relieved, it is more like I... eh... oh well, I don't know, I don't care, I'll survive :P RightField, isn't This thread anything for you to play around? :P |
| 03-13-2005, 05:59 PM | #13 |
No it wasn't, but you did feel relieved and... yeah guess that pretty much sums it up doesn't it? |
| 03-13-2005, 06:03 PM | #14 |
I'm afraid so... even though I don't want to admit it :P Oh wait, didn't I just did now? :P |
