Research for Team

I had lots of trouble on this in my maps in the past, and I want to get it right on this map. (map is DOTA style) It looks like this:

Event: A unit finishes research

Condition: Researched tech type equal to Weapon Upgrade
Condition: Owner of Triggering unit equal to Player 1 (red)

Action: Set current research level of Weapon Upgrade to 1 for Player Group: Team 1

I dont get why this doesn't work!!!!

Also, in the past, I had it so that when you walk up to the research center it becomes yours, therefore you can do research from it. Is there any way to make a neutral research building so I wouldn't have to do this? They did it in Rival Nations.... somehow

Hm. I think there was a triggered set-up in the old version of battleship command by sentryiii something along those lines.

What it did in there, was have a bunch of dummy units for sale marked as the upgrades that could be researched, at a typical neutral shop. When you buy one of the dummys, it runs a trigger to order one of the allied-computer controlled buildings to start researching it. Awhile later, the research finishes. There is more triggering involved along the lines of whether or not anything is currently being researched, but that's not hard.
