Go to http://192.168.1.1/ , or whatever it is to configure your router.

Now look for DMZ somewhere in that mess, enable it and set the last digit of it to the last digits of your IP address, found in your control panel under network properties. That works for me and should work for you as well.

Ok, here is the breakdown, ask again if this doesnt work. I always depends on your router settings. Some routers will just let you open the port to any computer on the network, but if yours is like mine, then you have to forward the port to a specific ip. Assuming your cable modem isn't firewalled; they normally aren't

First you will need to set a static ip for your computer. Go to your local area network connection and click on the general tab. Then go down to properties. Highlight the option that says internet protocall (tcp/ip) and hit properties again. Tell it to use an assigned ip address instead of automatic. Will be something like 192.168.?.20 or whatever you want to use at the end. Just use the same number in place of the question mark that your router has which is usually 0, 1, or 2. Subnet mask will come up automatically when you click it and the bottom one is your routers ip address (192.168.?.1). For the dns server address, sometimes it will work if you just put in your routers ip; otherwise, you need to get those which you can do by clicking on details under your support tab before doing all this (while it is grabbing automatic still).

Now on your router all you have to do is go to your port forwarding option and tell it to forward port 6112 udp to your computers ip address which is the number 192.168.?.20 or whatever you used. Might also want to forward 6112 tcp also; I did on mine just in case, won't hurt anything. Then just tell your router to restart and you should be good.

Also should make sure your windows firewall or any other firewall program are off. You don't really need them since your router has a firewall. If still not working, then you might need to see if your modem has a firewall also.
