I downloaded the new patch (War3TFT_118a_English.exe) and tried to use it but I got a message saying "This patch does not need to be applied to the game. The version of the game you have is more up to date than this patch". So I thought to myself, "well, I must have accidently got it from b.net or something". The thing is, It doesn't look like it has been updated, as some of the new WE features are not there, and when I opened "Worm War", a new map made by blizzard, it said that the map used a more advanced editor than the one I had. What should I do? (edit) I also found this log, which talks about the patch. I can make neither head nor tail of it, especially seeing as it says it was made in december 2005: "Blizzard BNUpdate v2.84 compiled on May 3 2004 Log created at 3:02 pm on 03/12/2005 This patch upgrades Warcraft III The Frozen Throne to version 1.18a. NOTE: patch not required for file 'E:\Warcraft III\War3.exe' [version 404.0.0.5960] RESULT: Patch failed" |

You must have a pretty powerful computer if it has the power to travel through time. And yet has trouble patching Warcraft III. But on subject if you haven't looked for this problem on the blizzard site and forums, I really would do so. A lot of people seem to have problems patching Warcraft III. |

Well, I've never had problems before, but this is the first time I have not downloaded and updated a patch directly through battle.net as I can't seem to connect (firewalls probably) though I don't see why that would make any difference. Either way, I'll have a look at the Blizzard site (I havn't done so yet) or mabye email tech-support (if they support this sort of thing). |

didnt someone make a program that reverts WC3 back to the original first release? you could try finding that and then re-applying the patch, would save the trouble of uninstalling the whole program. |

it says 03/12/05. That means 3rd of the 12th 2005 which means 3rd of decembre 2005. you are right about un-installing the program however, in a round-about sort of way. Here is what technical support told me, incase anyone has the same porblem: "This issue can be resolved by fully uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Please follow the instructions below to fully uninstall and reinstall Warcraft III. Use the Warcraft III Uninstaller (click on "Start", "Programs", "Warcraft III", "Warcraft III Uninstall"). If you want to save your character profiles or saved games, copy the "Save" folder from your Warcraft III folder to another folder on your hard drive for safe keeping. When the game is reinstalled you can copy the folder back to the Warcraft III folder. Now go into the directory where Warcraft III was previously installed and see if the "Warcraft III" folder is still listed... if it is, then right-click on it and delete it. Now, run a thorough scandisk and defrag of your hard drive(s). You will probably find it helpful to disable your screen saver and power management features before you scandisk or defrag. Sometimes Windows will restart the defragmentation and/or scandisk if your screen saver or power management kicks in. (Windows 98/Me) * Click on the Start button and go to Run. * Type in "scandisk" (without quotes) and click the OK button. * Follow the prompts and select "Thorough" scandisk and let it run. * This will tell you if there are any problems on the hard disk. * Click on the Start button and go to Run * Type in "defrag" (without quotes) and click the OK button. * Follow the prompts to defrag your hard drive. * This will make the available space more usable by your programs. (Windows 2000/XP) * Open My Computer, and select the local disk you want to check. * On the File menu, click Properties. * Click the Tools tab. * Under Error-checking, click Check Now. * Under Check disk options, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box and the "automatically fix file system errors" box. * Select yes to schedule after restart if a dialog box comes up prompting you to do so. * Restart your computer * Open My Computer, and select the local disk you want to check. * On the File menu, click Properties. * Click the Tools tab. * Under Defragmentation, click Defragment now. * Select volume to Defragment. * Click Defragment. The last step is to empty your "Recycle Bin" if it contains files and RESTART your computer. After your computer restarted and loads up, install Warcraft III." |
