Guest | Ok i tried making a unit change into another with upgrading with the beserker upgrade but it never seems to work i have 2 custom units and when you upgrade it changes the first unit to another unit. can someone explain this upgrade and how i could make it work to have more than one level and one other question how do you make it so you can only pick certain races before you start the map. |

I'm sure you could tie the upgrade to a chaos ability (there are tons and tons of threads which somewhat explain the use of chaos just search for them) |

Guest | Ok figured some of it out but when i use the beerkers upgrade and i put it in lumber mill both units still apear in barracks but when i upgrade the first unit diappears How do you make first unit show then after upgrade the second unit only show. |

I believe that's a special aspect of the upgrade that you research that you tie Chaos to. Look at either the Barrage upgrade or Berserker upgrade; both work that way, and they'll show you the necessary data type to use to accomplish that effect. |

Guest | I have everything working but i still cant get the rax to only show one unit instead of both the base unit and the upgraded version. So how do you make the button not appear until after the upgrade is complete. IM pretty sure i have it all set up right. |

Guest | Well i got it to work i just made a trigger to make the unit unavalible at start and the upgrade makes it avalible. Well i dont want to make another thread so im gonna ask this question here. How can i make an upgrade that gives archers fire, ice, ect and for example the ice will slow and fire will do fire damg. And this needs to be able to have more than one lvl. Thanks |

Firstly if u want ability to have multiple levels like a hero, it will not work unless it on a hero unit. If u give next level of ability u use the option in a custom upgrade of ability level bonus. I guess base spell of searing arrows for fire base off cold arrows or something for the ice ones Make them unit abilities as they will most likely still be hero unless u used neutral hostile versions. in that case u require to set there levels to how ever many levels u want. The upgrade will need to be tied to the unit in the units upgrades used part and the new ability in units ability list. Upgrade will need multiple levels for how ever many levels of ability u want. Set base to 1, and increment to 1. Well that should get u started. Its a bit bity due to i just listing stuff as i remember, but should hopefully provide some sort of help. |

What upgrade u use is not important as upgrades are so easy to change and make new custom versions. As long as Effect 1 is ability level bonus and other effects are none are all u need to do. And u can modify any upgrade u want. Set the upgrades applie to all units - False set levels to how many u require. At first level the ability will need base of 0 as it just is a requirement for the ability. Make increment 1. Make up the costs of upgrade for each level and names for each level and icon. The ability needs in Techtree Requirements - the name of your upgrade. Make sure Requirments Levels is empty. So first time u learn upgrade ability becomes active. If u do further upgrades the ability increases in level so gains the effects of the ability as if its level 2. Remember unit using it requires the ability in ability normal and upgrade goes in Techtree - Upgrades Used |

Guest | Ok i think i got the upgrade to work but im having a hard time finding a ability that is passive and can add either fire, ice, poision, ect. If someone can help i would appricaiate it. |

For fire, you can just use an item damage ability, ice can be the Frost Wyrm's Frost Attack, and poison can be the Dryad's or Windrider's. However, there isn't an ability that covers all three. This would be unusual, especially since attack-enhancing abilities generally don't stack in Warcraft 3. |

Guest | This will probally help but they aare gonna be diff spells. They are gonna be seperate upgrades that make each one stronger with every upgrade. they are all gonna be arrow upgrades and a player can only upgrade one type. |

So, what r u asking? Each upgrades changes the arrow, i.e. it starts fire then next upgrade it becomes ice or is it totally separate so a particular upgrade only affects fire arrow while another arrow affects ice arrow. Or do u mean u only have 1 upgrade that upgrades all the abilities. If so u just make Data2 ability level bonus for another ability. Data 3 ability level bonus for another ability and data 4 for another ability level bonus. So u can upgrade up to 4 abilities at once from the 1 upgrade. |

Guest | Its an upgrade that it adds ice to all the units of the player that upgraded. The upgrade will add an ability to do a little damage and an ice effect to the on the units attack and have more than one lvl of upgrade. After a player upgrades no oher type of upgrade can be upgraded like fire. Well im gonna go try this and see if it works. Ill post if i get it to work. |
