A new job position for a Level Designer was announced by Swingin Ape Studios, who is leading the development of Starcraft: Ghost with supervision of Blizzard's Rob Pardo. The job position highlights Multiplayer level design a plus. Seeing as all Blizzard games have multiplayer features, it is no surprise that Blizzard could be considering multiplayer in Starcraft: Ghost for console gamers.

Something relevant I wanted to share to Modders, is that they added at the end of the application the following:

Applicant must provide a resume and samples of single player levels created for shipped products or created for the mod community.

I know this community has many good modders and 3D artists. If you are near Irvine, California -- I think you should give it a shot and apply. Good luck!

Though it is a nice note, you have to consider that RTS mapping is entirely different then FPS/3rd person. So those who have experience in mapping in FPS should apply, but those waving with WC3:TFT maps as their lvl designs, well.....I doubt its what they meant (besides, that application job was already filled for Blizzard)

I can see that a problem when offering a CDROM Reel, but he was not specific. Besides, I doubt all the 3D Modders in this community play only Warcraft 3. Some of you might play Half-Life 2, and other games that may allow modding. If you know how to do 3D Models, texture and mapping for a RTS mod, you could do the same for an FPS. Remember that not everyone that gets hired knows everything. You get a training and get taught the studios's tools. I wouldnt discourage people that thinks has the skills from not applying.

As for Blizzard filling the position, this job opening was released yesterday March 14.

If you refer to the 3D Level Designer position at the front page of Blizzard.com:
http://www.blizzard.com/jobopp/3D-level-designer.shtml

That is a different position for Blizzard Irvine building. And the Jobs Page has not been updated since March 4. Swingin' Ape Studios is seeking a Level Designer for their own team, so both positions are independent. Blizzard can't hire personnel for Swingin' Ape Studios.

I don't want to blow smoke with both answers, so I will get back to you. I will try to forward both of your questions/statements. If I get an answer from them, I will reply.

UPDATE: I sent the email to Swingin' Ape Studios. Hopefully I can give you a direct answer from them whether they accept CD ROM reels of Warcraft 3 Mods for the Level Design job opening.
