There is no item in the Object manager for skin. There are two methods of getting a new skin into a map.
1. Use the skin to make a new .mdx file, and use it as your model.
2. In the import manager, replace a units skin, and that units model will have the changed skin.

Option 1 takes more space, but with option 2, you can only have 1 custom skin per model.

ok i tried out option two just to see how my skin looked so far and it was all screwed up... the portrait is fine but the unit turned out to be just some team color flying around in space

Okay, this is how I do it. For both ways, it is helpful to have TheProphet's Warcraft III Viewer 2.

Method 1:
1. Open up WC3 Viewer and in the treeview, find the unit you want to reskin.
ie. Units/Orc/Grunt/Grunt.mdx

2. You should see the basic model of the unit. Go the Current File > Extract (and convert) used textures. You should see a list of textures used in the model. The main one should have the units name in it. (ie. grunt.blp) Select the directory to extract the skin, and convert it to a file format your paint program supports.

3. Open the texture (ie. grunt.tga) in the paint program and edit it / replace it with your skin. Then go back to WC3 Viewer and go to Current File > Remap Textures. Select the skin you edited (ie. grunt.blp) and click change. Browse to the new file and click ok.

4. You should now see the model with your new skin. Click Current File > Extract MDX, and save the new model file as whatever you want.

5. Import the model into World Editor and use it as the units model.

Method 2:
1. Find the file of the units texture. (ie. Unit/Orc/Grunt/Grunt.blp)

2. In the import manager in world editor, import your .blp file, and rename it to the file of the units texture.

3. In the object editor, select the unit. In the game, it should have a new skin.

Hopefully these will work.
PS Could I get more rep for this?
