The Return of Sylvanas

A week after the Undead left Silvermoon, nearby in a forest, the banshee Sylvanas Windrunner, cursed by Arthas, laid in wonder. How could someone who had visited as an honored guest in the past come and lay absolute waste to an ancient area? Why didn't Arthas kill her when he left? In time, it will be his downfall. As she sat in the forest, she decided to exact her revenge against Arthas and the Undead Scourge.

As she walked around the ruins of Silvermoon, she found several other undead that had been left and she asked them to join her cause. Some went along, others still believed in Arthas and attacked her. When she amassed a fair-sized army, they moved out to Lordaeron to set up a main base against the Scourge.
When the Scourge and Kel'Thuzad heard of a renegade undead army, they set out to crush it, but since Sylvanas and her army were holed up in the ruined capital city so strategically, they were unable to crush the determined army and retreated.

After some time and with a large army of undead under her command, Sylvanas gathered her allies and sailed north to Northrend, and certain doom for Arthas...

When Sylvanas arrived in Northrend, they established a base and set out to find Icecrown and the Frozen Throne, where it was rumored that Arthas and the Scourge were rebuilding the damage that the last attack had left. Her scouts reported running across orcish and human bases nearby who were also planning to attack Arthas. Through careful planning with scouts, they were able to surround the Frozen Throne, but Arthas managed to slip away in the carnage that followed.
