Guest | Hey, i am currently very bad at terraining, i could do good if i only knew now. I just need a phew questions answered and mabey a little special help :). I know these questions are noobish please no flaming. How do you set a sky? If you set a sky will it show up while taking screenshots in WE? Where is the best place to find custom doodads and trees? Do these come with the skins? How would you import them? If you edit a texture the same way you would a skin, and import it the same way you would a skin (with the same path) would it work? And finnally, i got one more thing to ask. Someone, a skilled terrainer preferable, record the terraining some land? On your own time of course, like when your skinning something you need, can you record it for me? Or take some screen shots of it in progress so i can see how some great terrains are started and created? :) if you help me i can give you teh rep. |

dont worry, we dont flame here. the terrain forum is the friendlyest part of the site Quote:
scenario > map preferances (but be warned, only the fogged sky and generic sky respond to fog. to get the sky to show up in WE, press K, or V ive had a couple of attempts at makeing custom skys, but as far as i know, the only way to import a sky is to make it a model, not just a skin Quote:
there used to be the ultimate terraining tutorial at TMG, but as thats closed, its not longer there. my suggestion would be to look through the terrain forum. a lot of terrainers post wip shots through the varying stages of their terrain. you may want to have a look at the tutorials section of worldedit.co.uk. ive posted a forest makeing tut there. its not as versatile as the UTT, but it outlines some basic principles im always willing to help with terrain in anyway i can. if you want to contact me on msn, i can offer a more direct form of help |

Guest | Thanks, also i downloaded a tree pack, how would i import them and use them? Paths: UI\Glues\Singleplayer\Nightelfcampaign3d\AeriePeaksFir01CanopySki2.blp UI\Glues\Singleplayer\Nightelfcampaign3d\AeriePeaksFir01CanopySki1.blp Textures\Barrenstree01.blp Textures\BarrensTreeLeaves05_copy.blp MDXs can go anywhere. it says, would i just import them all and use those for the skins paths? also i like those doods and trees in your sig screenshots, can i get the pack? EDIT Also in some screen shots i see large trees, that go out of the screen, some look like wordltree so i know what those are, but some do not, they ar ejust largr brown trees, where cna i get those? |

Go to www.thehubb.co.uk thats where all the sexy doodads hang out. All you need to do is import them and use them for a new doodad (created in the object manager). As for someone showing you shot by shot terrain, it's better if you try and learn, devlope your own style of terrain. Everyone here got good buy trial and error, we diddn't just wake up and terrained some awsome stuff. So have a nice time at wc3c and all the best of luck to you. Angel |
