Hello. I just wanted to see if anyone out there is interested in working with me on this map. Here is the details. The setting of the map is a gigantic swamp (256x@256 Epic). I havn't thought up a name yet, so now it's just called "Emblem Map." The players all start off in a camp a little northwest of the center. You start off as a wisp hero and can't leave the town. Thoughout the small encampment is six different class masters. You bring the wisp to each indivdual master to train under him/her. The classes are as followed: Warrior: Trains the hero in the ways of the Warrior. The Warrior class can use heavy armor, shields, and a good variety of weapons. Allthough his intelligence is weak and his spells are that impressive. Pretty much a tank hero. Ranger: Trains the hero in the ways of the Ranger. The Ranger class can use good armor and some nice bows. She has some nice spells and has really nice range. Carefull though, she can die easily against melee monsters. Sorcerer: Trains the hero in the ways of the Sorcerer. The Sorcerer has a weak attack, can hardly use any items, and has low life. On the other hand, he has some serious damage spells. Make sure to buy lots of items. Thief: Trains the hero in the ways of the Thief. The Thief has a nice attack and some pretty nifty spells. He is more of a stealth hero than a direct one. He is limited to only daggers. Cleric: Trains the hero in the ways of the Cleric. The Cleric is a mix between a tank and a healer. He hits really hard and can heal other units. Allthough, he is limited to hammers. Druid: Trains the hero in the ways of the Druid. The Druid has a weak attack and can't use many items, but he can summon powerfull monsters and cast some decent spells. Each class has 5 spells the can advance in and a sixth trainable spell. Let me explain. For instance, the thief has a default spell called "Transmute," it costs no mana and can best cast on creeps lv 2 and below. It has a 45 sec cooldown. Now, by speaking with the trainer, you can pay money to upgrade Transmute to the next level, which would allow creeps lv 4 and below. All of the classes are set up like this. Now, throughout the map, there is other masters that let you train under them. Alltogether, there is 18 different hero classes you can be, but not every class can be used by the same base hero. Let me explain. Each class has a set tech tree they can turn into. For instance: Warrior can advance into the Berserker class or the Assassin class. Then as a Berserker you can advance into another class. It's basically a tree of what hero can turn into what. So far, this is what I have done: Warrior - Assassin - Dark Knight Warrior - Berserker - Samurai Cleric - Berserker - Ninja Cleric - Necromancer - Monk Thief - Assassin - Monk Thief - Sniper - Sea Witch Sorcerer - Summoner - Elemental Sorcerer - Shadow Hunter - Samurai Druid - Necromancer - Dark Knight Druid - Summoner - Elemental Ranger - Sniper - Sea Witch Ranger - Shadow Hunter - Ninja I eventually wanted to do alot more classes, but I have ran out of spells. I don't like a hero having the same spells as another hero. So, for now, this is how it works. I havn't worked on a story yet, due to I want to get the gameplay aspect completetd first. I designed the terrain of the swamp so that its like a big maze. Like, if you want to get to one place, you have to walk through another. In the level 1 and 2 monster area there is over 100 different type of monsters that will randomly spawn in and patrol the area. As you progress deeper you will enter different areas with different monsters. In the level 3 and 4 area there is another 100 different type of monsters as well. I basically included every creep unit in wc3 and edited them. The system is based on these three types: Melee Ranged Magic The way it is set up is: Melee gets an extra damage bonus against Ranged. Ranged gets an extra damage bonus against Magic. Magic gets an extra damage bonus against Melee. Furthermore, there is a drop system and a class specific item usage system. I made it so that a warrior can use a sword where as a druid cannot. I also made it so you can't hold more then lets say one sword at a time. The item drop system is as followed: Chances to Drop Items: 40% Chance to get a Normal type item. [Text Color: White] 20% Chance to get a Set type item. [Text Color: Green] 12% Chance to get a Unique item. [Text Color: Yellow] 03% Chance to get a Rare item. [Text Color: Brown] It is also based on unit type. So, if you kill a melee type monster, he will drop a melee based item. So, basically what you want to get is up to you. There is also various shops along the map that sell some of the same items the monsters drop. So, if you are having a hard time killing units, you can find a shop and buy the items rather then go out and find them. There is also treasure chests along the map that do a random drop of three items. What I have done as of now is: - A shit load of items. - First 6 starting heros. - Three of the tier 2 heros. - First two monster areas complete. - All the terrain is done (Still need to do MAJOR doodad and terrain buff up's). - Spells and upgrades for whats on the current map. I am basically looking for a few people that want to help me finish up the map. It is a major project that I know people will love to play. I still need to add in lots and lots of things. So, if you are interested in helping out, post a reply. I will add a zip file of screenshots from the map. If you wish to contact me other then this forum, contact me by: E-mail - [email protected] MSN Messenger - [email protected] AIM - Groundzero0016 - I keep getting like three different error whenever I try to post attachments... If you would like the screenshots, let me know and I will send u them. |

Be quiet, Gigli. You don't want me around when I just wake up, especially not on days when I have work/school. On such days, I'm as crancky as a cow with a tooth ache. Regardless, don't post just about me, stay on-topic. I haven't really read through it - I don't have the time, I have to go work - but are you sure you're able of handling such a project? Doesn't exactly sound "small" to me. |

Well for starters, I have never made a map that is "small." Small maps are lame and almost every map I see on bnet pisses me off, so I resort to making the games I want to see. The only bad thing about this is, I know everything on the damn map. I work Monday-Thursday every week, but on the few days I have off, I either work on some of my maps, or play other games. I realize this is a huge project, thats why I am offering people to help me. It will hopefully get done faster this way. As for being able to handle a project this big. Hehehe, I have a single player RPG that I have been working on for about two years now that is WAY more complex and way more detailed then this. It is about 80% done, I just started this map so I could play at lan games and on bnet with other people. I am looking for dedicated people, so if you're one of them, let me know. Xiash - When can you start helping and do you have an instant messenger? |

I am one of them, but I never mentioned that I joined any project. I have a 2 old year old campaign running as well. Regardless, even though you registered before I did - what feels hard to believe since I am one of the oldest veterans around - you must know that people don't know you, or at least, I don't know you. People don't know anything about you and it would be best to show some of your work above anything else. People don't know of what you are capable of. Not to mention that a lot of people start a "huge" project and do not even come close of lifting it off the ground. When I say this, I always get the reaction: "I'm someone who never gives up" or "I can handle it" or anything similar. Don't bother to quote me on this since I don't believe anyone except the real veterans on this - and even for the veterans I have doubts; not much, but still. I should read it, but at least you confirmed it for me that it is true that it is a big project. Xiash, you are working on a lot of other projects, you recently started your own and yet you are asking to join another one? I don't find that a good idea. No, I don't find that a good idea at all, and I am sure more people don't find it a good idea. I think the FAQ clearly mentioned (if it didn't, it should) that people should not work on too many projects, like you are doing right now. Even though there are some people who are able to handle it, I still know very little about you and am not taking any chances. Regarding attachements. There has been a problem with the server - apparently - that disables the ability to attach something. Please have patience until everything is fixed. Thank you and Sparkle~ -Fladian |

Well, as for people not knowing me, I have allways been a free lancer. I have been making maps since way back in the day of Starcraft. I generally dislike working with other people, due to they don't/can't really do much, but I know this is home to many good map makers and was curious if anyone wanted to be part of a bigger picture project. I like to keep maps to myself, until they are completed. I could post lots of information about the maps I've made, but I don't like giving people a taste of something without giving them more. So, for now, I will leave the maps I have done with this one. If you want any more information about me or my skills, message me and we can talk. |

It doesn't interest me what you have been doing in the last 3 years. For all I would care, you would be best buddies with Wormskull or TheViper. It remains a fact that not many people know you, easily seen, by watching your post count. Even though you may've joined before I did, that doesn't say much of experience and rules, big boy. I am the no.1 poster (oh~ I always wanted to say that) of the forum and am also the moderator of this section. But if you don't trust the people that work for you, then you won't be an exactly what you call, "good leader". Also know that most "good" modders have left the forum. Though there are a number of good people left, most are gone now. I know the feeling of "keeping maps to myself until they are completed" since I react the same way. Because of my stubborness and perfection, I rather don't work with people since I often start the map over and over again because there are things I am not satisfied with. Eventually, I started working on the history of it, and here I am, still working on it. Regardless, you will have to show work of yourself since the people don't know what you are capable of. Even though there are people that will follow you like a blind cat, there are more (and more experienced) people that will only join after they know something about you. Without them knowing you, your skills or anything you've made before, you cannot blame them for seeing you just like the average modder like most people here nowadays. IF you have been around for so long, then you know what I am talking about. Sparkle~ -Fladian |

Beening the person with the most posts doesn't say much to me, rather than you wanna brag about it or you're really bored. At least we share the same things about our maps. I never said anything about trusting people... I have never worked on a map with someone that actually knew what they were doing, so don't judge my leadership skills, for I did not attack yours. People can see me how they want, it doesn't affect me. I mainly would visit wc3 campaigns for trigger help and some general questions. So, that's why my post count is so low. I am not a post junkie. Anyways, enough of this conversation. Please stay on the topic of if anyone wouldl like to contribute. I might think about posting up some information on some of my other maps, but until then, this is what you get. If no one wants to help, that's fine with me, I usually allways work alone. |

For working alone all the time, I am not expecting you to be a great leader right away, even though there are exceptions with Metal Sonic as a nice example. I grew out to be able to lead a group quite nicely too, regardless, with an exception for the Unsung Song where I worked on with Myster Mystery and the Projects in Development (Decadence, Dorelian, RightField and Satanas... speaking of which, I still have to contact Panto) is being the second. But without people knowing anything aobut you, there is nothing they can do. If you could care less how people see you, then I don't care much about it, but I must keep a finger on these rules here, if you like it or not. Quote:

It also remains a fact that people don't know what your job on the project is. They know that you finished a swamp, but that's about it. I can guess you can terrain and trigger a bit now, but that is all we know. Quote:
The only other reason why solo projects are here is because of the Projects in Development. Quote:

There is no need to move this thread. I am still open for people to help if they would like too. As for what I can do with the editor, pretty much everything. I don't know jass and a some of the more advanced triggers. I can do everything mentioned on this map. All within my skill set. As for what I can do with triggers, my inital post should give you some insight on what I can do. Does anyone else other than Fladian care to respond to this thread. I get the point, you are a god of the forum or whatever, I could care less. Just seeing if there was anyone out there that wanted to be apart of something special. |

I said, if it would go on, I would move this thread to the eh... General Development sub-forum (for some reason, I keep forgetting the name). A matter of patience now. People won't form a line to just jump in and try to join while you wait. |

It's not like I'm desperate for help and need it. I will keep working on the map and checking this thread periodically. Maps tend to go faster with more people working on it. Simply trying to share the load of work with someone who knows what they are doing. |

Guest | What exactly do you need help on? triggers, terrain, etc. ? or did I miss it... |
| 04-04-2005, 12:55 PM | #15 |
Sorry, let me be more specific. I need help with anything that you can do. As posted above, I have these things completed: - A shit load of items. - First 6 starting heros. - Three of the tier 2 heros. - First two monster areas complete. - All the terrain is done (Still need to do MAJOR doodad and terrain buff up's). - Spells and upgrades for whats on the current map. I could use some help (or suggestions) with the units, spells, items, models, ideas, triggers, terrain, icons, stats, etc. For anyone that wants to help, they would have to see the map and get exactly an idea of where I am at and what could be done. I mainly want to know if, from what you have read, are interested in helping me with this map. |
