AOE Drain Spell YAY!

Anybody have an idea of how to do this? I want it to be a custom ultimate. An area of effect life/mana drain for any enemy target within 800 range of the casting unit, drains 250 hp/mana.

I have the spell finished and ready and it works with a target unit, but how do i do this for multiple ones? I can't think of any aoe draining spells in the game, maybe I'm forgetting one. I used Life Drain as the base spell. Will I have to use triggers?

The simple answer Civ, is yes. You will have to use triggers.

Slightly more elaborate would be to say, you can make a dummy spell for the hero, and then put the drain life/mana spell on a modelless shadowless invulnerable locusted unit with no collision, and make a trigger that creates one of these for every unit within range of the hero when the hero casts his dummy, and order the new unit to drain life/mana on his respective target.

but surely that wouldnt add health/mana to the casting hero? unless of course thats not wanted... i mean 250hp/mana from each unit is alot

Well, you would have to trigger it all, naturally. Spawn the dummies with slightly less than max hp and then transfer the hp as it recharges on the dummy units. Also verify if there are any units not yet being drained because they came in the AoE of the spell after it was cast, and spawn additional dummies, or, remove any dummies who's targets have gone out of range and thus aren't being drained anymore. Of course, with all this triggering, one begins to ask oneself if it wouldn't be simpler to trigger the entire spell.
