Mana Beast Redone

I really liked my mana beast concept, and I decided to redo it. Here's version 2 of him.

i actually like this one better. the blue opens your eyes!

to me, its more like liquid nitrogen.

it drips down and starts ... evaporating... like mana?

I like the composition on this one alot better...

but the background doesn't seem to fit...

and I'd say that the face seems a bit too short...

The ambience and atmosphere on your old one . . . I think I liked that better.

Having said that, I do like the execution of the background on this one, but I don't know if I like how it fits the theme. Good use of colors in th ebeast; you could not hurt from pushing the variation in hue in the local color; let's see some yellows or purples perhaps, sparingly.

Also, the bottom of his deltoid forms a sort of tangent with the bottom of his chest and wrecks some of the depth in that area. Give him a deeper, more barrel-like chest.

Also, it is a little blurry; some time spent tightening and sharpening areas up would not go amiss.

What does the old one look like?

Much better than the last one . . . and yet, why do I keep thinking of E.T. on steroids? Meh, probably just me.
