Here's some stuff from school; not al of it by any means I should say! It takes a while to scan averything in because it doesn't fit in my scanner and I have to stitch everything together (speaking of which, that will explain any misalignments seen in some pictures). I'll post more as I finish scanning.

Zoom (requires log in)

About a 45 min sketch of a view of the interior of my school. 8.5x11

Zoom (requires log in)

Another view done in perhaps an hour. 8.5x11

Zoom (requires log in)

Some figure studies done in my sketchbook in ink. I have about five more pages scan in. These were done in ink wash and bamboo brush. The paper wrinkled horribly. 11x14

Zoom (requires log in)

A still life in about two or three hours. Had to use a specific value and contrast key: middle major (middle overall value) and middle minor (middle amount of contrast) 10x7 on illustration board

Zoom (requires log in)

The same still life done in about three or more hours in low major and high minor. Naturally, I prefer the look of this one better. 10x7 on illustration board

Zoom (requires log in)

A drawing of a view of the devonian gardens. This is done with a .25 mm and a .5 mm technical pen. The background sucks but I wanted to get some sleep. 18x24 inches on mayfair

Zoom (requires log in)

A pencil rendering. Had to be a narrative scene of a figure in an environment where the value key matches the mood of the content. Anatomy is off, but I was barely conscious when doing this. This is my most recent work. 18x24 on illustration board

I'll get the rest up later.

Very nice... What is the density of the lead/pencil you use?

Hey, thanks for the responses.

@worm: Practice enough and your pencil rendering will improve too. I liked the fruits too, and being able to eat them when I was finished was an added incentive to complete the drawings (I had to do four of them). And hey, hold those veins in your head until you hear that my current assignment requires me to do 20 acryllic paintings of the same landscape with 20 different color schemes . . . about 60 hours of painting between now and next thursday.

@Savage Nation: Thanks. If by density you mean hardness, I have divided the range of pencils into places on a value scale; 4H for the very light areas; 2H for high middle; HB or F handles the mid-values; 2B for the dark-mids; 4B for the darkest greys and 6B for the black areas. This is arbitrary and depends on how many pencils yo uplan to use. Foregoing the H pencils and sticking with B pencils will get you a grainy and more rough look when it comes time to render the high key areas; H pencils simply cannot reach those low greys by themselves. Using both ranges in concert produces the best grade of high to low, although limitting your selection will have specific results that can work well.

@TheReaper: I thought the fruits were hot stuff when I just finished them, probably because it meant I was going to be able to get some sleep after all that night. As they aged a little in my eye, they lost some of their allure, although I cannot say they are the worst of the lot.

Sorry I don't have anything else to show; its been busy around here. Perhaps I'll hae some time on the weekend to get the rest up.

i think my favorite ones here is the figure drawings and the second still life. the first two drawings seem kinda flat to me. probably cuz they were done in a short time. the values in the first still life aren't as good as the second, so by itself, it'd be a pretty good piece, but when you put it right next to the second, it kinda loses it. your most recent one has a good mood to it and all, but there are a few things that irk me. for one thing, is that a castle in the background? the weirdest looking castle i've ever seen. well, maybe not weird, but it doesn't really match up to the skill displayed in the rest of the pic. it just feels a little amateurish when you see the rest of the stuff in the picture. it's not a very believable castle.

other than that, i like this. the figure drawings are awesome. i love ink washes and paintings with a chinese style. the different line weights are really cool. i'm working on a chinese brush painting in ap art, cept the teacher's making us paint it on papyrus paper. i don't quite agree with the papyrus, but at least i'll get to paint in traditional chinese style.
