My map is 26,260 KB. How can I make is small enough for battle.net? What is the file size limit on battle.net? |

The limit is 4MB, but realistically after about 1MB people won't stick around long waiting to DL it. You'll have to cut out a lot of your extra artwork if you expect to play it on bnet. good luck. |

The only way to compress the size of a file, is either deleting access "items" or to zip it. But you cannot play a zipped file, so I think you are stuck with deleting extra "items". |

Had i paid more attention earlier, I would have seen you were trying to make a multiplayer map, not singleplayer, and could have warned you earlier. You just can't have 2019 icons in a multiplayer map. Not even close. You should seriosuly consider cutting down on those, considerably. As has been said, 4MB is the official limit, but anything more than 1MB is just too damn big for bnet distribution. |

Heh, id always assumed he was making a single player map. However ive always felt that the 4mb limit is a bit arbitrary, im sure doubling it would have very little effect. The sorta people who DL 4mb maps would surely DL 8 mb maps as most of those already have a web presence and some sort of community. (RP maps being an example) |

A lot of people don't realize that you can compress BLP files dramatically without losing much quality. The way I do it is, using Warcraft 3 Viewer, convert the BLP file to a 32bit TGA, then convert that TGA back to a BLP. When you do this it will ask you for the compression quality. You can usually put it as low as 25 without any noticeable difference (100 being uncompressed). I often put it to around 15 on my map. This can decrease BLP file sizes from the hundreds to 30-50kb. |
