Hi, the Map-protection is starting to anoy me very much now.. Everytime I find a map that I wondering "how did they do that" I cant open it in world-edit because it is protected.. Dont know what you think of protected maps but I hate it.. I mean, I know it must be anoying that other people just modify the maps and release it under their own name, but I could have learned so much more(trigger editor) if i just could watch some of the maps.. So, the question is, how do I remove the protection? Is there any way to remove it so that I can read the trigger editor? Its the only thing I need, I dont need to modify the map at all, just read and learn from the trigger editor.. :) Il be happy for any answere! |

it's best to just ask the person for the trigger code alone, so you can't rip off the other stuff, but you can learn from it |

Maps are protected usually because the creator doesn't want you to deprotect it -.- and anyway this is NOT a good place to ask how to deprotect maps. But it's good to start learning from other maps first. If you've got something you really want to know how to do but don't, then just ask here on the forums. Or if you want to experiment around, just look through all the triggers till you find the correct ones. |

When I was learning how to trigger, the best map I used to learn was the maps blizzard gives out. Azeroths Grad Prix, The Candy Wars one, and so on... These maps have been modified enough to give you a good start on how to do some basic to advance stuff. Azeroths Grad Prix unfortunatly is done through JASS, and it pisses me off because I can't read it. :P ~Azhag~ |

You could always use that as an excuse to start learning the basics of JASS. But anyways your safest choice would probably be just asking us here on this forum. It's nice enough when you keep away from certain subjects, map protections is one of which recently has seemed to me to become a dangerous topic, and if you avoid commonly asked questions. |

OK, so there arent anyway to just read the triggers? Say a programme that makes the triggers read only or something! :) |

the easiest way is to ask him privately about how he did this, then that. |

We stopped locking our maps. Only resion we locked them was to prevent ppl adding cheats. A while ago we released a limited ver of one of our maps and didnt have much of a problem with hacks or ripoffs so we figure it shouldnt be a problem if we stop locking them. This is our latest map. It is a tower war. It has a lot of advanced trigger systems that should be of interest to map makers. It is done totaly in GUI except the one-liner cleanup functions to prevent memory leaks. http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthre...429#post715429 |
