Guest | Okay, after completeing the Rescue Trance quest, for some reason Warcraft crashes to the desktop. It doesn't always happen, but it does more often than not and I can't figure out why. Also, anyone know how to make the Medivh model's cloak grey instead of brown? I've tried changing vertex coloring and changing actual color(like changing owner) to no effect. |

Guest | Damn, I was hoping there was another way. I can't skin for anything, and don't want to mess with the MPQs. Anyone got any ideas about the crash? The Rescue Trance quest used to work fine. The only thing I could think of was if it tries to destroy the TalkToMe special effect over the Paladin Zann when it doesn't exist, so I tried working around it by adding another TalkToMe over him and destroying it, guaranteeing one would be present whether he was spoken to it or not, but that didn't help. |

do not use this: special effect - destroy special effect on paladin zann use this: if (paladiz zann is alive = true) then (special effect - destroy special effect on paladin zann) else (do nothing) |

Guest | Zann is in no danger of dying until far after the Rescue Trance quest (he's a stationary hero belonging to another player and the only threats early on are creeps), so why would that make any difference? |

I didn't look at your map but just make sure that if you have trigger- run this trigger placed in your destroy special effect or any other trigger that you place a wait between the action and the run trigger. I'll explain better if this didn't come out well... |

Well, I played through the map and looked through most of the triggers and I didn't find anything... Though I do have some comments on your map. After getting the peasants out of the village, it removed everyone except your Mage Knight guy and the escaping villagers. I was slightly miffed about losing Trance. Also, you should prevent the player from destroying the undead camp before the quest... I did so and couldn't advance further. You obviously spent a lot of time on the skill system for Rife... I think it would have been much easier and quicker if you had just made one Rife with all the abilities, and use the "Player- Enable/Disable ability" action to manage it... It works well, I believe. |

Guest | Doh! you're right, I assumed everyone would be out already when Gabriel left the town but that's not necessarily so. As for eliminating the other players, naturally this is an unfinished map and that will be done later. Using Enable/Disable wouldn't have worked for the skill system though, since the editor will only allow five skills to be added to a hero, and I have eight to choose from. I'm assuming you didn't even encounter the crash if you got to the Destroy Undead quest. Is it possible it's a memory problem on my machine? I have 256MB and my map isn't really unit-intensive but... |

Guest | Bumping this up, because I need to know if anyone else but me ever experiences this crash. You don't need to play the whole map through, just type 'playtest rescue trance' ingame and head northwest. Might wanna use the 'level gabriel' cheat too so you don't die along the way. The crash happens after you've killed the doom guard and are heading back to the town. |
