If anyone here has read Trudi Canavan's Black Magician Trilogy (The Novice, The Magicians' Guild, The High Lord), they'll know about how the black magicians sap the mana from other magicians (and even non-magicians) by cutting them. This got me thinking as to whether or not something like this could work in Warcraft 3: Quote:
Any chance that a system like this can be made to work? |

No, sorry. Having 2 mana bars would only be possible by tricks like moving the multiboard to the command card. and Doing the stuff there. |

What about an item or ability showing excess mana? I wasn't actually expecting a whole new mana bar actually - I was thinking more of an item, ability or something more along those lines. A plot item or passive ability called something like "Black Magician Mana" could tell you how much extra mana you have if you could regularly update its tooltip or something... |

A negative Siphon Mana would work for freely donating mana (ie I cast it on you, you gain the mana I lose it). But I doubt Siphon Mana work for the forced taking of mana (it would only add the Mana to the caster's normal mana pool)... |

Yea, but still, it'll look like the hero has 150 mana out of 100... Since Mana Drain allow the player to have excess mana... |

MindWorX or Lord Vexorian - any ideas on this? Unfortunately I can't so much as touch WC3 right now (exams :( ), so I can't try that Mana Drain myself... |
