I am in love with current games on Bnet such as Ice Troll Tribes and I am eager to make a new generation of this map. My map will possibly include best features of those maps with an addition of what I believe will be cool. Orc Tribes General information It takes place on Barrens terrain, 3 teams with 3 players on each team. The team will decide upon the Tribe name and it will appear in the multiboard. Player hero's don't recieve experience by normal means, I will be recording any experience that I see fit. There will be barrens environment creeps, animals. There will be a few snowy areas, swamps, rivers. Unlike in Troll Tribe games I will have a common enemy for the Orcs, humans (please don't say it's cliche, I know). Humans will be too hard to fight at first development of the tribes, so best they are avoided at first. Defeating Humans however will not be victory condition. Tribes will have to battle each other for supremacy. However they may ally to fight humans or to gain exp first. Experience. I plan to have fighting, hunting, crafting, hiding, surviving experiences. Fighting exp will be given out after killing a human, an orc or an intelligent creep. Hunting exp will be given after killing an animal. Crafting exp will be given after making an item. (This is most general one, but I do not want to overload myself with too much details until I at least make a playable demo) Hiding exp will be given if player unit often uses hiding abilities (Not sure about this one yet) Surviving experience will be given when unit steps farther than certain point of tribe(which will be fire or some flag, not sure yet) and exp will constantly be added depending how long unit stays beyond that point. Staying Alive To stay alive there are 3 factors. HP - hunger points (100 points) RP - Rest points (100) TP - temperature points (26 + or - ) 0 and + 100 are death Hunger Points will be tricky. To get them up you just have to eat. However, if one gets experience in surviving, hunger points have slower rate(not too much tho) In contrary, when getting exp in fighting (strength added) hunger rate increases. Rest points get taken away from running, staying awake, maybe fighting. At 50 RP speed of the unit decreases. At 10 RP speed decreases more and vision radius gets tiny. At 0 unit falls asleep on the spot. You cannot die from exhaustion, but exhaustion may speed up HP rate and TP rate. Temperature points are taken away at night in different rates depending on time of the night. They are taken away at much faster temp in snowy areas. They can also be added at fire, but can be fatally added too close to a fire or something burning. Crafting Like in Troll games, units can create items in their inventory. I might not introduce as many item creating units like forge, tannery. Probably I will get away with single Craft house. Most of the time units will be making items on the spot. Crafting experience will let units have more success to create harder items. (if failed unit looses materials) Materials Wood, Tinder, Stone, flint, Hides are among most common materials. Not so common would be Metal (taken from humans only), which could be iron or steel. AI Humans will not just stay in place. They will be patrolling different areas at day time. They are a tough foe and will be programmed to be smart when it comes to bringing a fight to their bases. Some animals will be smarter than in Troll maps. They will run away upon seeing you, not if you just attack. Some animals are agressive etc. Well I could say a lot more. I plan to have little model editing, some custom icons, but what I really need is a terrainer. I will be doing all possible triggers myself. I code in Jass and I believe I have no trouble in this area. Terraining is my problem. Although I could be good at it, I am very impatient, so there. :) Please, if you like my map idea, help me create a suitable terrain. If someone wants do take control of all unit editing, be my guest as well. |

Liked your inspiration, and these ideas. How can I help? |

Well Whitehorn, you would probably be able to do a lot :) but question is, how much are you willing to do. I know you are great at making skins, models, so I guess that's exactly I'd ask from you. Other than anything else one thing i need most is main orc unit. I'd like to have a fresh concept of an warcraft orc. Doesn't matter how it's made, from scratch or from merging, as long as it's fresh. This orc has to be tribal looking. Big, bulky, agile. The orc is wearing self made armor of hides, nothing like the current grunt or blademaster who wear something that's professionally made if you understand what I mean. The model has to start out without a weapon. I will be adding weapons with triggers. If you could come up with a primitive weapon (rock and stick ) that would be great. For everyone else, Another thing I need is ideas. Ideas about game play, multiboard, experience gain, and anything else. I don't need ideas about quests because there will be none. But other than that I am willing to listen to anything you have to say. And terraining. That's probably most important because good terrain will interest a player at first, keeping them interested until game proves interesting itself. Progress so far: So far I have bunch of triggers. I already made a multiboard that will show all players in game. So far it looks like this (Player name) of (Tribe Name) HP 100 RP 100 TP 26 I have wrote triggers for hunting and fighting experience gain. Right now I'm working on crafting experience gain, it's proving just a bit tricky, but I will manage. I have wrote temperature change and how it affects units. (soon will add modifiers that will enable players to have warmth from fire, clothes. |

If I don't get any new models I will use already made models that I found in wc3sear.ch As you see the starting model will be the tribal looking orc. When the orc meets the requirements for upgrade, the replacement will be the armored orc. They are same model, same animations, which is cool If you could, whitehorn, can you edit both of these models? If you agree, I'll tell you what I need. |

Sure I can do a model, what do you need editing on these? |

First the naked orc. I'd like a more tribal feel to him. First of all, if you have this model you'll notice his upper back and shoulders to head are darker skin color.. I would like that to be same color as rest of his body. Then i'd like a few tribal signs on his body. Last thing is boots and forearm protection thing. I'd like those made of hides/fur with rope strings. I have no idea if that requires you skinning or if you can somehow merge parts of already existings skins to this.. so tlell me if that's possible. Armored Orc has to lose the axe. armor has to be of hides/fur so here the models skin has to be modified. Maybe alpha out the axe. And also add more tribal feel to him. That's it, if you can pull this off, you get rep, credit, my personal thanx. Progress so far: i am using weaaddar's Reviver 2.0 for creep reviving purposes. I installed some AI for creeps. So far creeps will move into random places in certain perimeter. Animals will walk much farther than intelligent creeps like Trolls. Intelligent creeps will not travel far from their spawn location. They way this works is only when player unit comes close to creeps. I am in a way creating an illusion of AI. When player units are not near creeps, those creeps will stand in thier spot. Edit: More progress I implemented RP, HP decrement values. When hero stands rest points do not decrease. They decrease while walking and even more while fighting. Rest points increase only when rest ability is switched or sleep at tent(abilities not implemented yet) HP (hunger) will be decreased based on orcs level. survival skill will increase rate by somewhat. I've implemented food. raw meat/cooked meat. Unlike other troll games, here meat will be dropped already charged and can be put into inventory, not carried like a corpse. Another edit update: I might have the human player for decide. It can be user or computer. If it's a user, then the player will be able to control humans, but won't be as strong as if it was under computer control. If no one joins the spot then Human AI will kick in. But I gotta think bout that. |
