Fairly quick drawing I did awhile ago. Didn't come out too great, but the concept is there. Basically a female blood mage, added the text after I scanned it in. Didn't get a chance to scan this in until recently though. Man, i gotta spend more time drawing, less time playing games and sitting on my butt :\ |

How does "how long ago" help crits? The errors were still errors even in the 60's... You should practice anatomy and realistic drawing before going into this whole anime fetish people seem to share here. |

Several months, I don't recall an exact date. Quote:
Maybe so, but anime is what I like drawing, if you don't like looking at it, you don't have to look at my art. |

I appreciate well done anime just like the next guy, but people try doing anime without any knowledge of human anatomy. You dont know why you draw something some way, you just do, and this will keep you from improving. |

I appreciate the advice. I'll keep it in mind. I'll have more time to practice drawing over the summer (but I won't have access to a scanner unless I buy one). oh, 300 posts now. |

pssh. dragonball Z tought me anatomy, beat that! all i did later was look better at real people and scale down the muscle work, but it was teh dbz that showed me how muscles work and stuff, a big bleated SSJ is actually quite a cool reference to how to draw muscles in a verry cartoony way. but i guess anatomy can help, i have a natural talent for it (biology is an easy course as well, for me, i aced it without trying) but yeah, its not completely needed. also, drawing stuff from playboy actually helps a lot in getting female proportions correctly in a cartoony way, as they look much too perfect and usually have interesting poses that help. |

Im glad it worked out for you, but ive never even seen a fullbody pic from you so I really wouldnt know how valid that is... Also, people are being too contained by this cartoony and anime stuff. Practicing drawing it... is basically a waste... Drawing from real life lets you learn it well and develop a style for yourself as you go along making something you are truly comfortable with and is your own instead of just like another person. |

well the hardest thing is going from cartoony to realism right away you try making a 180º turn with a car instantly and perfectly so nothing is even harmed nor has rubber burnt its that bad so yea try blending some realism in then gradually work your way up until its lookin good because as some oldies here they remember how I used to draw and how I draw now Cartoons arent a waste they're entertainment and they only look good if you can reflect that you know you understand the anatomy and how things work I mean tom and jerry was a cartoon but you could SEE how the artist understood anatomy and how things work like that and yea you dont PRACTICE cartoons you whip it |
