You should work on the composition of the shot and try making some darker shades to define the form more effectivly. |

dude, you realy think that I gaved a shit about compositon in this piece? i thought it was obvious that I didn't. I mean, just take a look at it, for Christ's sake. You think that I had a reason for placing mountains & clouds there? NO! i did it all because i was bored and i didn't gived a crap about how it will turn out to be. and the shades are darker in reality, but i photographed it with a digital camera with flash (A2, to big for scanner), so that's why it's lighter. you have a very narrow point of view most of the times. and i see you speeking of lots of stuff like composing, color & other stuff, giving lots of advice (most of em are good, i admit that), but I haven't seen any of the things that you give advices about applied in your drawings. how come? |

your shades aren't as varied as they could be, so the forms are less defined. you have a very narrow range of greys, which makes for less contrast. try to get all shades of grey in there, from straight black to bright white. this'll get you that contrast you need. |

Well if youre doing an assignment you should try and do the best job you can, and that qualifies for still lifes especialy. Im just curious why you didnt follow instrctions. Composing a good shot with a still life can make the diffrence between good and bad. Also, I practice everything I say to others. I mean, just because I notice I dont draw eyes well doesnt mean the next day I will draw them with perfection. I see hundreds of problems in my art and I attempt to remove them one at a time. |

beam, as i said, i shot this photo with flash, cause otherwise it will look blurry. the flash made all very bright and lookin pretty the same. in reality, that big maggot's head that bursts from the neck is pretty close to black, as well as the sphere freak and the hole in her face. i'll upload this pic with tweaked contrast and brightness to mach the real life thing as close as possible. the head, though, still has light shades, so what you said could be applied on that. |
