I can't host myself so I get others to host for me, and lately, my map has been not hosting properly, they say when they click on the map it can't be found and not sure whats causing this, possibly protecting it with heavylocker while running the game is my only guess. Opinions? |

It's most likely heavylocker. I've had issues in the past with map protectors garbling a map to the point where warcraft 3 can't run it, and that's the message it gives when you try to host it. Trying again on an unprotected version and maybe changing the settings you use may fix your problem. |

Guest | Protectng a map is not a god thing to do. It damages a small file so WE cant be used. But sometimes it damages files that WC3 needs for the map to be opened. Map protectors (Not recommened)(i cant spell) On the other hand if you use vex's Map Optimiser this will protect the map in a more intelligent way and fix other problems aswell (E.G lagging) Tell this to you friends and others for map protecting is a very dangerous way to seal your map. somtimes with protecters the parameter can miss read and damage Needed files on your computer in the .MPQ . vex's is miles better anyways C Ya ![]() |

Ok, I switched to the Optimizer, and now its hostable, but it lags out and disconnects everyone(except host) about a minute into the game, Help? |

Guest | I know why people wanna protect there maps. They dont want other editors stealing there work. Protectors like HeavyLocker do this job for you Map optimiser is a way to hide your work and not damage any files. So in other words you solving both problems This is the story: HeavyLocker + other protectors: They damage a file to seal your work so other editors cant steal or edit. Doing so they damage a file that sometimes WC3 needs to use (depending on lots of things such as your maps file size). This is a big problem. Vex's WC3 Map optimser: Does nearly the same thing but allows the map to be opened with nothing there but unit data. (In other words "Protecting your map") But without damaging your map. So on the whole it "protects your map" without damaging and making loads of hassle. I never said it is a "map protector" but i did say it does "protect your map in some way" optimiser is highly reccomended |

Guest | BTW to stop your "lagging out and dissconnections" this is a trigger that you have made that is either i function (action/condition/event) that is to long and uses 2 lines of JASS. (maybe you could convert to JASS and look at your triggers, then press undo to make them into GUI again).... you may also have a memory leak that is making your map to big ..... or you have a trigger that makes everybody lag hugly and their comps cant control it like .... E.G creating 300 units at the same time. If you try any of these and they work .. please reply Hope they work C Ya ![]() |
