Kick System

I Have been working on a kick system that allows players to remove other players from the game.

Some people may disagree with this becasue some people may be kick unfairly. But this is not a problem because for a player to be kicked it requires a vote from all other players in that game.

Example:
Somebody is flaming and annoying all other players in that game and there is nothing they can do about it.
Solution: New kick system will ask all players if they want him to be kicked or not and if most of them say yes . he will be kicked instantly with him completly removed from the game (Not hole WC3 ofcourse).

Still people may say it is unfair because somebody could be being picked on by others and may not have a choice to do anything. So in future versions i will ask Blizzard B.Net for a small cache to keep respected members from being kicked and unrespected members from taking a vote. (Blizzard has done this for teams before).

If this works out it could help many respected games from taking a bad name for a flaming user. DotA and other respected games will probaly not take this on board, because these type of games do not believe in kicking from there games (Known fact) but hopefully they will soon take that it is on board.

Well thats all from me i will send the system BETA for testing later in this thread.

C Ya guys

Please reply for suggestions or comments on this topic (No flaming please)

NOTE: The system is a few triggers that go into your map ... not a program

Indeed, I integrate kicks into all my maps. I've just met too many annoying people who deserve to be kicked in other maps, so when I make 'em I make sure they can be sent packing.

i agree with elven, thats why i always added it to maps ive made, although none have been released....
Make sure that when you add it, you make sure they cant boot you (under conditions). I add this all the time ^_^ you should also make it so no matter what color YOU are, you can kick a player, but just you (make this under conditions too). lol, it may be unfair, but who cares, lol. I dont see the point either in making it ask anybody else, but if you wanted to do this, its not that hard. just make something that raises the points when a player selects yes/no, and then make it so if yes's > no's, you kick the player

Kick systems are worthless. Last time I saw one used, it was against me when I was doing very well in a game and two other players on my team were apparently bored and total dicks and they voted to kick me. The fourth player apparently didn't have a clue what was going on and voted for kick too. After that, I'm sure those two kicked him as well. You see, jerks more often use the kick system themselves rather than being kicked by it.

This system is a coplete 100% fair vote on any player . any player can activate it (any colour) at any time. if you was kicked unfairly that means the kick was probaly a nooby host with the power to kick you.

This on the other hand takes a vote from all other players but the player being kicked and adds up the votes at the end to see if he/she should be kicked.

This system on top of all others is much fairer than normaly host kicks

Re-read my post. I was kicked by the oh-so-very-fair-and-democratic system precisely like the one you are proposing. That's nothing new, we are reminded from everyday politics that without heavy safeguards, democracy just turns into the majority bashing the minorities.

my kick system works like this:
majority of players vote to kick 1 player, and he is kicked.
if they try and kick ME, or anyone on the "safe list", they will be kicked.
in some maps, the red position holds 2 votes (because he is the host).
if the majority of players vote to kick red, he will be booted.
if I or anyone on the "safe list" vote to kick someone, then they are simply booted from a game. (even without majority)

seems to work well. not verry abuseable (because my maps have a decent ammount of player slots, so you need allot of asses in a game to abuse the system.)

So not only is anyone on the "safe list" untouchable, but also all powerful, and to add on to that, people who even try to kick someone on the "safe list" are kicked? Sounds like a dictatorship where one person has all the power in the world to do anything he wants and the others can't do anything.

As far as I know, there are 3 reasons why someone will be booted.
1 - They are being asses.
2 - They are in the way of other people who want to win (screw honour).
3 - Everyone else is an ass.

The problem here is that the first reason, even though I guess it's the most common reason, it's not the most common reason by a very large margin. So you have to find ways to cut down the chances of someone being kicked because of the other 2 reasons.

I think, in a PvP game, to kick someone would require a unanimous decision by every team mate of the guy being kicked. In a PvE, 80%. If the guy's really an ass, then it's not difficult to achieve these percentages.

However, if by some chance (like in Anitarf's case), your ENTIRE TEAM or the entire game is made of asses, thus enabling them to come to a unanimous decision to boot you, then perhaps it's better for you to be booted.

Abuse of a system is always present, it's just that abuse should be cut down. For example, giving someone on the "safe list" godlike powers is something that doesn't cut down abuse. However, you can minimise abuse of the system by by thinking of ways to stop people from ruining the game or identifying people who are definitely not trying to ruin the game. For example, if the main problem is that people ruin the game by TKing, then simply put a system to stop them from TKing. If it becomes a serious problem that everyone kicks the guy on top so that they can win, then grant the top guy immunity, since he probably isn't trying to make an ass of himself if he's managed to be top.

There is no completely fair democratic system but it's best to cut down on possible abuses of the system and also you should remember that kicking is an UNDESIRABLE thing. If possible, prevent players from all possible ways you can think of ruining the game.

Listen guys. im not talking about your every day kick system.

Im talking about a system more powerful and unique that any normal map-makers kick.

This system will ask the player kicking somebody why they are being abusive.
Such as Spamming.
The system will be monortering all players every second like this:

Event:
Player 1-12 types in a message containing as a substring

Conditions:

Actions:

For each interger A from 1 - 12 do actions:

If Then multiple fucntions:
If Triggering player equal to player interger A
Then do start SpamTimer [Interger A] as a 1 shot timer that will expire in 5 seconds.
Set SpamForPlayer [Interger A] = SpamForPlayer [Interger A] + 1
Run Not Spamming (Checking Conditions)
Else do

If then multiple functions:
SpamForPlayer [Interger A] equal to or greater than 10
Then do Set PlayerIsSpamming [Interger A] = true
Else do set PlayerIsSpamming [Interger A] = false

and another trigger saying

Event:
SpamTimer [1-12] expires

Conditions

Actions :

(CODE/:Set udg_PlayerIsSpamming [GetArrayFunction ()] == False)

As you can see this makes the system much fairer because the actual system can determain wether the player should be kicked or not.

If the player is lieing just to get him kicked he will face a punisment that the editor may enter on a non-JASS trigger.

I do agree that most kick system's are not fair but this 1 is much different and will help alot of people.

Its not like 1 of them TD's were you can just type -kick red then red gets kicked.

Its alot more complocted than that.

If you still want more info that this system kicks unfairly please state why

BTW Most of this safe-list stuff probaly wont happen.
Remember guys this has gotta be a fair kick system. Soon everybody will ask to be on the "safe-list" and be untouchable.
But i will bear it in mind for maybe a future version to see if it works better.

No one says you have to put them on a safe list. I've received several requests for unprotected versions of my map, that doesn't mean I hand it over. I ask what they want to know, then they just ignore me when they realize they're not actually going to get it. Just cause someone requests something, you don't have to do anything.

As for spamming, it might be cool to add that, but /squelch is in there, use it.

yea i surpose but i am taking a "safe-list in mind maybe for a BETA test some time but not at the moment. i need to see how the system itself will be handled.

BTW what maps do u make? and have made?
