The Firm

Wrote a little something down form the world I have been creating. It's a dark cyberpunk world and already posted it with the artwork to the Off Topic gallery.

Hope you like it, I will update this as soon as I develop more from this theme. If someone's into RP over this, I would be interested to try out.

THE WORLD
Great war ravaged the earth once again at the first half of the 22st century. WW3 began when the Russians declared that European Union was nothing, but a bunch of lambs bowing to the might of NATO and the United States. The wars at the Russian borders had come to an end so they had all the soldiers and resources they needed.

The european leaders did not see a war coming for they were too busy of fighting the leftovers that were dropped from the U.S. tables. Europe was united only in papers. Not in the minds of the citizens so despite year of hard fighting, the war seemed already lost. The Great Britain and the U.S. then once again rode with white horses to save Europe. This launched the chain of events that resulted in total devastation of the mankind itself. The worst nightmare humans had ever dreamed of. Nuclear war.

Bombings began at 19:27 on 24.8.2117 and ended on 14.12.2117. In less that four months all had come to an end. Men rose upon the ruins fo their former civilization to look down upon the utmost horror they had spread upon the face of the earth. No one was safe now. With common goal in mind the nations united themselves one faction and began the rebuilding of the world. This was not easy however, the bombings left behind great deserts of burning sun and frying radiation. People fell dead all of a sudden and hope seemed lost. Still they fought.

Some people made great halls under the earth in which they survived and reinvented technology. Some stayed on the surface, cleaning what they could and surviving as they seemed fit. Few hundreds of year passed before the great cleansing could begin. And it was not until the year 2865 when civilization had reached the same level in some cities as it was before the war. Over seven hundred years in vain. Cities rose amidst the great, deserted plains in which the sun still burned like dragons flame. But at least, technology began to reign supreme.

Robots cleansed the radiated dunes of the earth and the leaders of men sat in the great houses. More factions were created from the ashes of the one, some of the factions were dedicated on cleaning, some for the development. More and more factions were born under those and soon there were huge administration grids over the cities, all of them doing their part for peace and making the best possible profit of it. Still, after so many years, the terrors of nuclear war had left the memories of men. And once again, violence rose it's head. Factions were driven more and more to make profit out of peace, but since it did not sell too well, they changed the trade for war. Gang wars rose in the cities of men and factions transformed into Syndicates that fueled the ongoing struggles. Rich people got richer and poor people got killed if there was any luck.

At the end of the millennium, there rose one new Syndicate, CC Internationals which introduced their newest invention, Mindtech. Mindtech was extender for consiousness. People could made transfer the data fomr thei memories into them and translate them to one another. Mindtech became a great hit and CC International quickly rose to be one of the wealthiest Syndicates in Raincity.

The year is now 3018 and the CC International is manily known as the Firm. On the outside, the Firm still develops Mindtech and other biogenetics, but deep within it feeds the ongoing wars of the streets. Or maybe even more.

"From peace everyone profits something. From war we'll get it all."


THE FIRM
Namely CC Internationals, the leading producer of Mindtech chips. Huge research and development company that is being ran and overseen by the council that consists of 12 person. Each of the presidents sit two months in a row in the chair that has the final word on everything that happens within the Firm so the full row takes up to two years. After every two years they have a meeting in which they decide if someone has done less for the Firm that he would have been capable of. Do I need to mention that should this occur I would not bet my last dollar for this person to breath after few days?

OTHER SYNDICATES
There are countless huge syndicates in the world, the most of them rose after the WW3 and got their businesses running really well in the end of the second millennium. Many Syndicates feed the gang wars and many of them are trying to conquer the markets of the others. There are always ongoing political issues between the great Syndicates. Assassinations, bribes and treachery. Money talks and hangman walks.

NATIONS TODAY
There are no longer nations in the world. There are of course lands, but they are only for geological purpose. Cities are the cradles of civilization and they are separated by the burning sands of the deserts. Today, it is your ideology that counts, not your nationality.

TECHNOLOGY
Technology has leaped huge steps since the faction began to shred. There were no morals or ethics to push the breaks for process so everyone had to do the best they could in order to answer the silent thread of other factions. Though the wars broke out much later everyone knew it was only a matter of time. People can be whatever they want nowadays. If you do not like the look of your face you can walk right into plastic surgeon who can create you new look from the scratch. Everything from bones to flesh can be synthetically generated, which gives huge opportunities for assassins (for whom all this might have been developed in the first place).

Muscles and coordination can be improved either through needles and flesh pumps or cyber surgeons. Cybers and implants are parts of machinery that can be implanted upon the human body and connected to the backbone and brains. The cybernetic limbs or say synthetic eyes are not rare at all to this date. Many paople look more of a robot nowadays since they have some hard work to do or they just want to stay alive on the streets.

MINDTECH
Mindtech was developed late in 2900's by CC International, also known as the Firm. Mindtech allows one to transfer the data on his brains to a small deck or hardrive that can be then translated to others who wish to download the information they reguire. Mindtechs consisting information are being sold with great profit.

Mindtech, as stated, is not very stable. Many have burned their brains via the use of this.

MATRIX
Matrix is the general term used to define the security grids of the syndicates. Matrix is a great network in which every data in the world will be saved. Legal use of matrix is nowadays as common as internet was on the beginning of the second millennium. It is safe for the search of legal information, but should one try to hack into the Syndicate Networks it is a strong possibility that he will be fried by the anti-virus softwares and guard bots.

Should one wish to jagg into the matrix he needs a proper deck, a little something like laptop, and open connection (compare it with todays broadband in example) plus set of plugs and lines. When connecting the person looses his view over this world and enters the world of networks. He transfers himself into the zeros and ones of the matrix. Upon this technology Mindtech is also based.
