Yeah, I know, it's one of those "Where's the next build, guys?" threads. But, you know, where's the next build? :) |

My guess is that the next version of AMAI will come out after patch 1.19. Brett.D in the Warcraft Forums has given word that 1.19 is in the works now. |

Is it just me? I find World of Warcraft Quests to be boring compared to Diablo 2 Quests. Killing monsters WoW tends to be boring. Nothing compelling, really. I can still come back to play Warcraft III. So AMAI Team, please release the much-awaited next AMAI version! :) |

MMORPGs are boring, except for the communal side of things. There's so little skill involved in handling your character. Now, when a FPS MMORPG comes out, which if fantasy allows me to do some half decent sword fighting/spellcasting, then I'll be interested. Warcraft III and Counterstrike Source start me off on an equal footing, and my ability to win is based on my skill. A MMORPG rewards purely the hard slog of time. Sure, the former involve time and the later involves skill, but only in small amounts. |

Well i would like to answer but due to exams i havn't had time to contact zalamander and catch up on whats happened especially due to he has dissapeared at the moment. All i can guess for you is some bug wasn't solved or caused further problems so couldn't be released. If there is a 1.19 war3 patch in the works then its likely any possible release will wait for that first just incase it includes new script functions and compatability sake. Quote:
World of Warcraft i can find addictive in certain respects especially wishing to get to those super levels and become almost god like to the lower level individuals and have them bow at your feat before they insult you and run. (cough) Quests would get boring when it was something long and complicated that took ages then required massive travel as well (by foot). But this is one of reasons I havn't brought it and i also don't want to fork out a monthly £7.49 or so a month. Now if it was free thats a different matter. (one day i'll get it for merital value. Just not sometime soon) I agree playing some warcraft III is much more satisfying for some odd reason. |

Maybe try GuildWars then. It's more like a co-op game, but it is thought of as a MMORPG, and it's a one off fee. My GF is picking up her own copy of WC3 so we can get our butts kicked online :) |

@Strategy Master: We'd appreciate it if you release AMAI without waiting for Blizz patches. You know how "soon" Blizzard releases patches. May we know the bug you're solving in AMAI? Does it make AMAI play less efficient than the current New Year version? Maybe the new features will outweigh the bug. Having said that, it would really be great if you'll release a new version of AMAI now that we are in the middle of the year. :) |

hmm. Very well. Being you havn't had a version for half a year. We are currently testing a new build. If it is good enough we will release officially very soon otherwise we may provide a sort of beta on the forums. |

Cool! Yeah, a forum beta would be very great! I really appreciate it. Everytime I'm browsing I always visit the forums and the web site because I'm really excited about the new version. I'll make sure I'll help make this beta a success and give bug reports as we test. If you have specific instructions on how should we report and what kind of replays (AMAI Lite or Standard?) should we attach, please inform us. Thanks Strategy Master! |

Thanks Strategy Master! I can see a lot of hard work was done to make AMAI a more effective opponent. I'll test the fountain bug on the Friends map. As we all know, AMAI tries to send units to heal on the fountain that is blocked by terrain and trees. And at last, you made a big leap by letting us compare Blizz' AI with AMAI. In fact, you can place a link on the web site for a link to maps and replays showcasing nice AI battles, and AMAI winning a good game. :) |

I know a lot of people read these forums (only this thread has 215 views for now). I want to thank you in the name of the all cultured silent readers. We don't want flame to appear in this nice forum (flame in sense of unnecessary talks). AMAI team you have made a great work! Thanks!IMHO if the new version need some testing or other similar things - do what you count necessary. I do not want to force release. Quote:

AMAI Vs. Blizzard? Sweet... I smell team testing ;) |

The current AMAI should keep us playing a long time. And we understand that there is always a room for improvement no matter how good the AI is. This is because we always have our own preference on different strategies. Some AI can demonstrate good strategy on one thing but failed to do the other right thing is completely alright. Because this is what we human called, careless mistake - making AI realistic. But maybe for advanced and skilled and expert players, a "deep-blue' kinda profile is needed, where everything is performed perfectly. But all in all, thanks for your contribution to our warcraft community. ![]() |
