Hero Levels

Whew... it's been a *really* long time since I last posted on this site, or last visited it for that matter. I haven't been doing any WC3 editing for over a year (maybe near 2?) so please forgive me if this has a really obvious solution that I somehow overlooked, or if it was already posted somewhere and I could not find it (I did a few searches, and found my question once but no one had responded to it).

My question is, is it possible to increase Hero Levels to 11 and above? I'm sure it is, as I think it was a "new thing" back when I quit editing, however I could be wrong. If it is possible, how would I go about doing this? My goal level is somewhere in the vicinity of 50 to 70, though even somewhere around 20 would be satisfactory.

Along with that question comes another. If the answer is yes, then is it possible to have your hero learn more than 10 levels of spells? (3 3 3 1) I'm sure this is possible because I've seen people talking about giving multiple skill points per level, so simple direction to a thread would be cool if possible. More than 4 types of spells would be cool also, but I don't think that's easy to do?

If this is in the wrong forum, I apologize. This forum seemed the best suited place to put this thread.

Thanks for any help!

for Hero above 10 level, go to Advanced --> Gameplay constant --> Hero maximum level --> edit it
for Ability above 3 level, go to Object Editor --> Select any ability --> Stats - Level --> edit it

You missed a lot in the past two years. The expansion, for starters. And then a bunch of patches.

World editing has gone to whole new levels in this time. The questions you are asking are all simple things everyone does now. My first suggestion, if you want to really start making maps, get TFT (if you do not have it yet) and a latest patch. Then you will be ready to make maps like never before.

The hero max level can be modified under advanced->gameplay constants menu. It can go up to any number (well, I suppose there is a limit, but it's way above 100). If you choose to have crazy high hero levels then it's advised you also modify the experience table, otherwise heroes will hit the XP limit and won't be able to gain more levels.

If the Hero has more levels, he will be able to learn more skills, as by default, one skill point is awarded per level. A hero can have up to 5 hero skills. The skills can be freely modified in the object editor (that is the new thing that came with the expansion, where you can make custom units, spells, doodads,...) to have as many levels as you wish.

Boy do I feel silly now. I looked back at my old posts and found out I've been gone 1 year and about 6 months. I do have the expansion (released just before I quit editing I believe) but editing levels in the editor was never an option before, so I didn't think it would be so easy. Thanks for the help, sorry for the silly question! XD

Sorry, Anitarf, but I just want to comment on something. The max level you can set it on(maybe if the shift+enter works, then it goes beyond) is 1000.

Oh yeah! If you are too feel too confused on redoing the experience table, you can use this. It is an experience calculator. Put it in your favorites if you are going to change the exp. table frequently.

Also, you can go to probably the best site to find a bunch of misc things for your map(I won't be surprised if you already know of this site). Put this site in your favorites as well.

Before you ask any questions, I recommend you go to elilz.com. This site and tell you most of the basics for triggering and stuff.

With that, your off. Have fun doing what is it your planning to do in the WE(It is reccomended as well to get World Editor Unlimited or another 3rd party enhancer)

I don't quite agree on that. Lately, you can do nearly anything with the normal world editor already, so various enhancements can be more of a burden than actually being useful, especially if you're still learning, trying to do some stuff that enhancers offer without completely knowing yet what you're doing can cause severe headaches.

I agree completely with Anitarf. The things that third-party editors add to WE are miniscule, and most of them are specialized triggers that you could do on your one once you learn to trigger well enough.
I've used only the WE since TFT came out and never been dissatisfied. Of course, there are other programs I use to do things that the WE's not designed for, like WinMPQ, War3Viewer, and Widgetizer.

That exp calculator might come in handy, and of course I already know of wcsear.ch, I'd have to be an alien not to ;). I already know the basics of triggers, I used to do this quite a bit before, and I already have an "enhanced editor" but from the sounds of it I won't be needing it much. I did download some of the more familiar programs such as WinMPQ, War3Viewer and a couple others.

While in this thread, I wonder if anyone can direct me on how to have the camera follow a certain hero, changing direction in a smooth fashion as the player turns the hero. I know it's been done, and it was something I was trying to work on before I quit, I just don't know where to find it.

There's a trigger action that locks the camera to a unit.

Oh I know this, but if you turn the unit from say, north to south, the camera moves too rapidly and isn't a very smooth motion. I wonder if there's anything that would force you to walk for at least a few more steps before it went all the way around?

So there's no way to make the camera stop moving if you move from say, south direction to east but only take a few steps, having the camera move a little bit that way but not the full thing?

Example:
1 step = 15 degrees.
2 steps = 30 degrees.
3 steps = 45 degrees.
4 steps = 60 degrees.
5 steps = 75 degrees.
6 steps = the full 90 degrees.

In the case of a 180 degree turn, it'd take about 12 steps to move the camera around.
