Guest | A friend and I are developing a map for WC3:TFT. It is called Ultimate Hero Championship. It is a gladiatorial hero combat type map. As of now, there are 165 selectable heroes (excluding hidden heroes), 6 game modes, 8 players max, AI, and lots more. This map is not yet released, but I would like everyone to know about this map so I can get feedback when it is released. This is how we have it planned: 11 choosable races, Human, Orc, Goblin, Centaur, Blood Elf, Night Elf, Murloc, Undead, Dwarf, Gnoll, and Troll. Each race has it's own benefit, for example; Humans have a small Int bonus, Orcs have a large Damage bonus, Goblins have a huge Int bonus but a Str reduction, etc. You have your choice of every hero spell in the game, along with a few unit spells. Each spell costs a certain number of skill points (modified lumber). You gain 1 SP per level, and there is a 1% chance of units (creeps and heroes) dropping a bundle of skills (2 SP added) (this name was supposed to be comedic). There are 6 game modes; King of The Hill, Capture the Flag, Base Assault, Creep Invasion, Team Deathmatch, and Deathmatch. Most of the modes are self explanitory. There is a maximum of 8 players. If you are on LAN or BNet and you are short a few players, there is AI. The AI is not the greatest, but it will buy items, roam around searching for enemies, and find its way back from dying. The hero selection is not based on the classic system. It is a much better, easier to use system. I would rather not go into detail about it as I think someone would probably rip the idea off. The combat system is like no other I've seen, and I will mention all features even with the fear of people ripping it off. Each time you get a kill, you grow 10% larger. This only works for killing heroes, not creeps. Growing larger will cap out at about 350% of normal size. This is a means to show who is doing good, and who needs to be killed. Dying will make you shrink back to 100% size. Also, when you are doing good, messages will appear such as "XXX is OWNING!" or "Someone stop XXX!". If you get a large amount of kills without dying a message will appear "XXX is on FIRE!!!" and you will have immolation on that deals 0 damage. This is also to show who is doing good and needs to be stopped. The game modes are switched every 10 minutes. There may be a system to select a permanent game mode but I'm really not sure at this stage. There is also a dueling system. Type -duel xxx, where xxx represents a player's name. A dialog with appear on xxx's screen saying "(whoever challenged) has challenged you to a duel!" allowing them to accept or decline. Accepting will teleport the players to an un-used 1 vs 1 arena, to allow the heroes to brawl. Every so often, the game will pick 2 random players and be them into an empty dueling arena. The items you can buy are based on the classic gold system. You get gold for killing heroes, and a reduced amount of gold for killing creeps. We have custom items we made and also use the classic items in WC3. There is also a concept idea of adding much better items, but you have to find them rather than buy them. You will have to go to a place that will be extremely hard to get to, or something along those lines. We're not sure about that one. I hope I cleared it up a little more now. You can track our progress at: http://www.fusiongamers.com/uhc/ This site was put together a few days ago so it is not the most appealing, but it does good to show our progress along with updates. |

I dunno, AI is nothing new nor incredible, lots more sounds as "tons of boring features I won't write" , 165 heroes sounds like "Impossible to balance" and it also sounds like "3 heroes with different models" , And the url sounds like advertisement. I dunno an img to a screenshot would have helped. Seems you edited and added more stuff. Quote:
This would have been great on 2003, but now there are plenty of maps like that. anyways what's the point of 165 heroes if you make them, you meant 165 hero models or what? Seriously, "No tomes of this map" isn't something that great and it is just a standart. "All the Game-types" would sound better if you actually described what they are. Still not getting convinced to click that url |

Okay, I will go more in-depth here, for those who refuse to visit the website, which already contains ALL the information... You select from 11 races, 3 classes, and select your range (if you are a ranged class). Every class, from every race, has it's own benefits and disadvantages. For example, Centaurs run faster but that's it. Dwarves gain more strength per level, but only a little bit. Gnolls gain huge strength per level, and tiny intelligence per level. Night elves gain more Agility per level. And the list goes on. Combine this with picking your Primary Attribute, and you could have a VERY well picked hero. You also pick your spells, as mentioned. Each spell has a starting mana cost which is displayed, and acts as sort of a notice for people to determine whether their hero has enough mana to use it. There's more, and I would really like for anyone who views this and has questions to rather look at the information already posted on the website, as I know there are people who want just the main information and not a big block of words. For those who do want more info, I encourage you to visit the link. |

Okay, when I say things like "no tomes ON this map" I mean it to be a simple informative comment. Not an advertisement, meant to "hook" people into looking. Click the link if you want, if not, don't try to lecture me on my map. You won't even take the initiative to look at the in-depth descriptions of the map, and yet you are telling me "flaws" about it? Can you say "troll"? ![]() |

The web page doesn't provide much more information than you have given here anyway, no screenshots there either... You're not being too succesfull at making me droll over your map. We'll wait and see, that's all I can say. Let's just hope we don't have to wait too long, otherwise what's the point of posting this thread now? It's not like you are asking for any development-critical feedback, you just want to get everybody on their toes. People can't stay on their toes forever, though. |

Why do you need a visual so bad? I can go take a bunch of screenshots right now, but I will tell you it will be screenshots of an incomplete map. They will reflect the current progress, which is about 60%. If you want me to do that I can, it just seems like a waste of time until I can get it about 75% done. At least when all the races become available, still working on 3 more races. |

Anyways, I was not judging your 'hard work' , I guess I haven't seen your actual map? , I was judging your way of presenting it, you are supposed to sell us your idea, and make us love it. We are used to posts saying tons of features and nothing more, we don't get impressed that fast. I am just saying that if you really put hard work on it, you should also put hard work on presenting it. |

Had I presented more features, you would have told me I was boasting. You would then bash the features I presented, and we would be in the same position. The reason I didn't make a 1500 line "presentation" of this map on this forum, is because I already made information available on the website. Like I mentioned before, when people read a post I get the impression they don't want to read through 1500 lines. Rather they want to read through a few lines that give a general idea, and if it sparks interest, then they want more information. |

What we are trying to say is, you didn't quite succed in sparking up interest. You don't necessarily need screenshots. A banner, for example, would have been enough to make us to think: "If he has done this just to present the map on the forum, imagine the work he's putting into the map." What you did was post some text and link to a webpage that has slightly more text. The only reason to link to external pages is if you have a fancy presentation there. The way it is in your case, you could have just copied all the text from your page here. |

Okay I've added more information. First I was a little reluctant as I did not want someone to steal our ideas. But I think if I announce it now it shouldn't be a threat. Our ideas are probably more innovative rather than unheard of anyway, alot of the maps are extremely well thought. |

That's better. And you need to stop worrying about rip-offs so much. People are generally to lazy to copy a map, unless they can literally copy it if it's unprotected. Besides, the skill system you are describing is very similar to one I have already seen in an AoS type map, and the combat system, well, I have seen very similar in Unreal Tournament. Wait, you left out the Tauren! Nooo, my favourite race! (well, not really, but it surely is someone's favourite) I see you tried puting in the main as well as the lesser races (murlock, gnoll, centaur) of Warcraft, but it seems odd to have the later without having all of the former; beside the Tauren, Naga could be there as well, and it just seems a bit wierd to have gnolls and murlocks instead. |

Thanks for the help. Ya we couldn't think of magic and missile versions for the Tauren. We thought the lesser races would be fun to play with also. Gave them some fun bonuses :) Quote:
Wow, Negativity, you really live up to your name. I don't think you have the right to call ANYTHING stupid, look at your signature. Get that from a retro porn clip? |
