I've been trying out giving skies a custom texture and i've noticed the texture is repeated 4 times. I'd like the texture to be all around, glueing the right side of it into the left side (if you know what I mean ^_^) anyway, I dont know how sky models should be, and I have no idea if I could .mdl edit the model so it only uses the texture one time... so.. can anyone help me fix the uvw mapping (thats what must be fixed right? ;)) or tell me how to create a sky model in 3dsmax. |

A Sky model is just a textured box. Making a wrapping UV map shouldn't be to hard I think, however I'm not positive at the momment, this isnt my PC. |

but if its a box, how can it look like a real sky then... I mean, you never really see a corner or something. |

not so much a box as a dome, but I think you should just stick with the normal sky, why is it so bad? |

Because I want 1 endor + moon, not 4. |

lol, actually note that in wc, there's a sun and moon that rise and set during the game if you can look at the sky... |

there is yes, on some of them, but I want it static on the texture. |

The skies look real because of the way the texture has been painted - if you look at the blps, you'll realise they're skewed; squashed in the central part. And only Generic Sky has the sun that moves round - the rest are just boxes with pictures on them. Anyway, if you wanted one side of a skybox to be different, you'd need to either make an entirely new skin and change the UVmapping for all the sides, or make the one side a new geoset and give it a different skin. |

Get Oinkerwinkle's Vertex Modifier (his tools can be found at www.oinkerwinkle.com I think). It has limited UV map modifying abilities. |
