Guest | I've been trying to make a neutral hostile custom [non-hero] unit for an otherwise mostly melee map. Its definately not as easy as using Illidan's Demon Form, because the model is still Illidan in Night Elf form. (Adding required animation names "alternate" and/or "alternateex" do not work.) So, I'm left to believe that I have to use an Advanced WE or something. I could use some help as to which editing tool will help me. Also some hints as too how to do this quickly would be nice. {rant: why couldnt the demon form just be a regular model?!? I hate you blizzard!!} |

a few solutions: 1: download UMSWE you lazy bastard. 2: Check the level of the creep. Those are your only to solutions i can think of. |

Guest | Ok, got UMSWE and tried making a neutral hostile unit (level 9) and still shows up as a Demon hunter on the map and when i tested the map. I'm a little upset that its so hard to use the Demon model. GRRRrrrr *Shakes an angry fist towards Blizzard* |

Ok, Step 1: NEVER under ANY circumstances use test map! Test map NEVER works right and can corrupt your whole map! Step 2: I can't see any reason why adding the animation tag "alternate" wouldn't work. I've done it before. The test map must screw it up. Step 3: get UMSWE -Insaniteus- |

Guest | Ok, sorry for stating what i did wrong. I opened warcraft 3 and played a single player custom game to test if the map worked. Well, it didnt. I never use "test map" to test maps. Other: I tried "alternateex" since that was the string the Demon Hunter (Demon Form)'s required animation names, but I'll go try just alternate now, unless having both strings doesn't matter? |

Guest | Another problem I noticed with the custom unit i made is that it wont attack back unless you are within its aquisition range. A normal creep would run to you and attack you once you fight it. What an interesting problem. |

Instan meant adding the animation tag in triggers. Animation- Add/remove unit animation tag or something like that. Then you type in "alternate" in the tag name field. |

Guest | Ah! Thanks a bunch! However the creep still doesnt want to chase me down when hes attacked. He just sits there until a unit comes within the 500 aquisition range. This doesn't seem right at all. |

First off, my name is INSANITEUS. Man that gets on my nerves how everyone calls me other things, like instant! Second, Make a trigger that goes as follows Event - unit is attacked Conditions - attacked unit type is DH Demon Actions - Order attacked unit to attack attacking unit. That way the creeps will fight back if hit from range. -Insaniteus- |

Hey on the bright side, I don't think anyone's called you ''Instan'' before. :) Make sure that it's not sleeping or the checked box that makes his aquisition really small. (the box that comes up when you double-click it, or press enter when selecting it) |

Guest | Ok, i tried the trigger to make them attack, but when they run up to attack they do nothing. |

Oh, I know what I did wrong!! The way I have it the creep would be re-ordered to attack everytime he got hit, making him stuck between orders. Oops! Add a condition that checks to see if the Attacking unit is more than 500 away from attacked unit! That way he won't get stuck. PS: Draco, I actually HAVE been called Instan several times before. Kojiro thought my name was Instantenious until I corrected him! -Insaniteus- |

so what's the difference between play animation and the animation tag thing? |

Guest | animation tag specificies the more exotic animation of the unit, like victory stuff etc. will give more control. I rather call insa insty, way shorter =P |
