Azhag's Race Theme Thread

I have decided to practice my skills with the terrain editor, and make four themes. Today, I'll start with Humans. In a few days, after I have gotten comments, I'll move on to Orcs, and so on...
These are the first four screenshots for a Human small village.

Story: The humans found their perfect spot to mine gold. Beside a mountain they find a goldmine, and jump on the opporunity to get rich. They begin building a small town, and now... this is what it looks like.

hmm, personally i don't like closeup shots, since i can't see much details to them. But anyway, i think i owe you a comment. :)

I think the cliff is just too bad. The townhall and a fence doesn't match together. Torches and lightposts are too big or i guess buildings are too small. And I wanted to see more townish details. The gold mine can be detailed too. The grass is the one i liked in these pics. They look natural to me, except for their proportionality to the buildings.

What I wanted to see in these screenies are the removal of blizz's cliffs, a more detailed shot and some proportional corrections. Then I'll comment after that. Good job and good luck! :D

Little late... For some reason my computer did a back-up for like a day or so, and I lost the map :S. I will keep your comments in mind when I do the orcs. I didn't really want to make it townish, as the story was kinda a spur the moment type of thing. I didn't see the fence thing, until you pointed it out. As for the cliffs, give me some tips on how to fix them, and make them neater. Please.

hmm, you can download the miscdata.txt from this thread.. http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthread.php?t=76094.

You can see on how to install it there too. Then rather than using cliffs, you'll use raise/low height, plateau and rough. That's it. :D

Ok:

make buildings/units sizes look realistic like the unit could live in the house

and change that color of the houses/units like the red is on every thing and it doesnt look good

and blizzards cliffs look bad

the only thing i liked how you pust grass/ground setup

For some odd reason, I am really good with grass effects.

These are nice. Only that everything does look wierd with only red coming out of the units and buildings. Other then that, good job!

You might want to visit www.thehubb.co.uk and check the download forum and download all of Nas's doodads, his are the best. There are great plants and trees that he has made, and they make your terrain look much better. Oh and if you don't know how to use fog, look it up there should be a sticky. I would suggest a blueish gray for this shot, shame the map is gone.
Also I like how this terrain isn't too noobish for a first go, you have gotten lots of things right, and I like how you used the doodads. Good luck with your terrain.

It does look very natural, and I didn't mind the cliffs much, but that may change depending on what you were aiming for. The unit stuff looks odd, though, and using neutral might work better, as the team color looks odd.

Here is my orc theme. This one has two more pictures then the last... enjoy!

Story: Just like orcs, they were traveling to find something to destroy. Traveling beside a moutaineous area, they come across a domed like terrain, and thus made it a battling pit. Challengers from all across the land come to challenge others. Gamblers of all kinds come to bet on their "prize". Who will win? Who will lose their pride?

I like it- it's not a stunning bit of terrain, but it looks like it'd be concievably very fun to play in.
I'd make the arena's boundaries more defined (to prevent running away!), and I'd add more spectator seats. Some remains of previous entrants would be nice, assuming you can manage it.
