Awesome Discovery! Upside-Downness

I'm not sure what section this would go in or if this is already known (I haven't seen any posts about it in the forums, or seen it in any maps I've played), but - if you change a unit's scaling value to -1.00 (hold shift, then edit the value), the model becomse UpSide - DowN!!! The unit also has backwards animations!!
After a small bit of testing I saw that it only works with air units that have flying heights.
Try it with a footman or another ground uni that has been changed to air movement with around 240 flying height and it appears convincingly that the unit is walking on an invisible ceiling.

Cool, that's really funny, I tested it with a dragon and he spits the fire out of his ass when he attacks anything ;) lol

But good work!
I also didn't heard of something like that yet.
I love it when people yet still find out something where others thought:
"A unit which walks upside down?... No, that never works!"

Hey, all guys out there who will read this thread here,
try to make some genious ideas about how units can walk correctly under bridges ;)
[I mean in multiplayer, for example bnet]

Ok, negative scaling is something new for me as well, but walking under bridges has already been discussed over and over, just check one of the stickies in terrain forum...

I thaught almost everyone already knew that with using the shift + enter button you could revise numbers in the unit editor as much as you want.

Well, yes, of course, I have just never tried using it nor read about someone using it on scaling value before.

Tim.
I remember using that once a while ago for one of my old Star Wars maps. I asumed it was common knowledge. Oh well, at least now it is.

what about making a unit sideways, like laying down, is this possible through this?

wouldn't that be the pitch and roll?

This is new, but I think it should go to general not Triggers

old news... old news...

dont use the scaling value, sux. Use pitch/roll angles. Much better to work with, so yes sideways units are also possible...

or units in any angle, if you like.

or doodads... or destructables...

Sorry for late reply, but to place my first reply in the right way,
@anitarf, hi:

Yes, and that is because I said that the people have to think about some major solution, because in every thread that I read about this topic with walking under bridges, the best way to make it real was to change the flying high of units using the ability morphing. But as I posted my reply here I thought of a general solution:

Incidentally, the negative scaling thing works on ground units fine, but they end up walking underground on the bottom of the terrain.

You can also use it in game by using the animation triggers.

Joey.
Wonder what a tower would look like upside-down... I'll try it =)
