Guest | The Game Cache stores variables between single player levels. Items and Heroes (I believe) are stored this way between levels. Basically it's an external file with these variables that can be saved at the end of one level, and loaded at the beginning of the next. I would assume that the Orc bonus campaign in TFT uses extensive use of this with all of its level switching and missions that carry over more than one map. One of my dreams with StarCraft was to be able to have a campaign, where you start with a group of units and must keep them alive for the entire campaign. This could be accomplished using the Game Cache in WarCraft III to save which units were still alive, and what there health was. Just another example of its potential. And now, if you have any specific practical questions about the Game Cache, don't ask me. I've never used it. ^_^ P.S. If any of this is wrong, someone please tell me. As I said I've never used it, and this is just stuff I've picked up, and assume is possible. |
