Stone Craft: The Crystal Kingdom

The History of Stone Craft: Chapter One: Ention and its Kingdoms
In the land of Ention there were originally there were four separate kingdoms. The mightiest of these kingdoms was the kingdom of Letharea built in the hill country and was the home of the Mason people. The Masons were group of human constructors and architects that originally settled the hill country. They built a network fortresses throughout their land as a symbol of their power yet despite their vast defenses they lacked lumber and many important metal which were vital to any true empire's survival.
The second kingdom in the land of Ention was the land of Ketanar, which was home to the mountain people known as the Craftsmen. The Craftsman were a peaceful group which had a tolerance for all races and the realm of Ketanar soon became a sanctuary for all people whether they were a elf or a dwarf and its many mines and great halls were the envy of all kingdoms. But the Craftsmen had one great weakness unlike the Mason fortresses their mountain cities were built for luxury not war and they had little or no defenses.
The third and most warlike of the kingdoms was Athreon. The people of Athreon were the Pyrithians. Named after there almost unquenchable lust for chaos and destruction. They built there cities along the most volcanic regions of Ention were their raging fire could fueled their endless forges which produce the weapons and armor for their powerful war machine. Their lust for war ensured the battle to come.
The fourth kingdom was the kingdom Kerretha. This lakeside realm was the home of the Hydroliths. The Hydroliths were mainly fishers and ship crafters. They built giant floating cities on their lakes, which could flee from enemy attackers and with their powerful navy none would dare to follow.

Chapter Two: The War and the Rise of Alchemy
Truthfully everyone in the lands Ention knew that war would soon be upon them yet few would dare to admit it. Yet as time passed relationship between the country began to grow thin and it and armies began to mobilize. It seemed that only the Craftsmen of Ketanar had any tolerance for the other kingdoms yet despite all of this it did not drown out the horror and shock of the first attack. Athreon warrior began to invade the undefended Ketanar. The Mason people soon realized that Ketanar would fall in a matter of months unless they intervened. Soon after even the seafaring Hydroliths rushed to Ketanar. It was not that they had any sympathy for the Craftsmen but they simply could not stand the idea of not sharing in the spoils.
Soon Athreon attack was push back and the Masons and their allies had taken back most of the conquered land. Yet they had all taken heavy casualties. The greatest of these losses had been on the Hydrolith people. But when the Masons refused to give them any of the recaptured land the Hydrolith people were outraged and the few moments of peace that the people of Ention had held so dear was soon shattered by Hydrolith siege weapons upon the gates of the Masons fortresses. Meanwhile the Craftsmen of Ketanar had decided the time for being the pacifists of the had come to a end and that a new age was rising. Combining elf magic, dwarf craftsmanship and human ingenuity they created the first of the automatons these power stone creatures smash through the enemy ranks with there bare fists enemy weapons had almost no effect against there stone. The age of alchemy had begun.

Chapter Three: The Crystal Kingdom
Not long after the development of the first automatons other kingdoms began to invest large sums of the their wealth to develop similar technology. Alliance collapsed friendship died and the drums of war echoed through the air. The war became a four-way blood feud, which tore the realm apart. Every battle fought in vengeance of a past offence. Golem technology advanced even further and soon rockets filled the air, powerful streams of energy cut men in two and screeching gargoyle streamed down from the air plucking farmers from their fields. There seemed no hope in this as vast fields and forests were reduced to wastelands in a matter of hours.
It was in this dark era in which Dranar was born. His life was one filled destruction and chaos as he grew up a world long sentenced to destruction two hundred after the war had begun. As a young man he swore he would not let the next generation face the same world. As soon as he was able he signed up with the Mason battle suit unit. A group of warrior who went into combat in a new type of golem known as a battle suit. This type of golem had a inner chamber hollowed out were a single warrior could fit inside to drive the golem. With a sentient driver controlling a golem's arsenal these were the elite warriors in any army. With his iron will and his unshakeable determination Dranar soon became the leader of a elite commando force. It was on one of his missions that he discovered the entrance to the crystal kingdom. Embedded at the foot of a large mountain he found the entrance. It led him into the heart of the mountain were huge city size cavern fill with a strange blue crystal. Then he realized he had seen these crystals before. He recognized that these were the same crystals used in advanced laser technology. Yet the current laser crystals were flawed and chipped causing to many instabilities for them to be any real value. Yet the ones in the cave were pure and clear perfect for focusing energy. At last he had found his weapon.

Chapter Four: The Wars End and the New War Beginnings
Not long after the crystal kingdom was found Dranar and his warrior quickly swept down destroyed the enemy leaders using their new weaponry. At the shock of loosing their leaders the other kingdoms quickly surrendered to Dranar and his forces and a new peace treaty was signed setting their boundaries and limiting their weapons and the crystal kingdom loomed over them to keep the peace.
Years passed and Dranar king of the crystal kingdom passed away as well. Soon a dispute broke out between the leaders about who should be the next crystal king. Dranar had promised that a contest would be held to determine the next king. Yet when the leaders arrived at the contest they found that the king's son Tiroth and already claimed the throne for his own believing that it was rightfully his as was all land which plans to take by force. While the four kingdoms dispute amongst themselves the new crystal king is planning something far more sinister.

Concepts of Stone Craft:
Stone Craft is primarily a single player campaign base at the beginning of the second war after Tiroth's rise to power as the second Crystal King. There is only one Team in the game, which is the alchemist. This means everybody has the same basic units ranging from basic swordsmen to more advanced golems. Despite this though each hero grants you a range of unique units. When playing a Mason hero for example you will gain access to sever unique Mason units. In Stone Craft your main structure is your heroes laboratory if it is destroyed that then you loose the game. It is the primary structures for your team, which produces basic units as well as researches new ages. As you research new age you gain access to better units, golems, and upgrades. In the beginning ages you will only have access to more primitive units such as swordsman and archers but as you advance you gain access to powerful golems and weapons. Almost all the units in Stone Craft have weapons along with their normal attack. Weapons are auto cast abilities, which take up unit's ammunition (mana). Most non-hero units will not have any mana regeneration so the will be required return to a supply depot at base or move near a supply vehicle to restock their ammunition

Team Gathering:
I was originally planing on doing this as a solo project until I took another look at all my plans and notice how much work there was to do. I'm mainly planning to do most of the work myself but any help would be greatly appreciated.
What would be most useful to the project would be someone to do the cinematic stuff mainly because I have only messed around with cinematic for a day or so and completely hated it.
The other thing that would very useful would be a skinner for making some of standard War Craft units (e.g. rifleman, gargoyle) have a stone like look. (I will be doing some of this myself)
These would the most useful members to a team I'm working with but anyone can join as long they are willing to work with team and are willing to see this project through to the end.

Ok now for some more plans.

Basically the campaign is about ten levels long and I have them basicly planed out. In the campaign you first have to unite all four kingdoms against the Crystal King and then attack the Crystal kingdom. The level plan so far goes like this.

Beginning Cinematic: briefly explains the history of stone craft and the current problems.

Level One: A simple beginning battle against the rouges to get help players get used to the game mechanics. (Played as the Masons fighting rouges)

Level Two: In level two you have to convince the Craftsmen race to join you against the crystal kingdom. (Played as the Masons fighting rouges)

Level Three: In level three you have to convince the Hydrolith race to join you against the crystal kingdom. (Played as the Masons fighting Hydroliths)

Level Four and Five: In these to levels the Pyrithians have refused to join you at any cost but their massive army is the key to the success of your invasion of the crystal kingdom. In these two levels must strike at the heart of the Pyrithians empire and conquer their kingdom in a single blow. (Played as the craftsmen fighting Pyrithians)

This is the end of the first halve of Stone craft. After this you begin battle against the Crystal Kingdom. As I said in my earlier post all units are basically the same except for several unique units per race (Ill explain my reasons for only having one race later). The Crystal Kingdoms units are no different except that instead of you just fighting the Crystal King you have to defeat all four of his generals. Each general has as many unique units as any of the other kingdoms.

Level Six: The Hydroliths job is to attack from the north to take our the Crystal Kingdoms primary artillery battery but things get messy when Titan the Crystal Kingdoms artillery general decides to show up with his new crystal cannon. (Played as Hydrolith fighting against Titan)

Level 7: The Pyrithians task is to destroy the Crystal Kingdoms infantry division. Though Pyrithians army is great will they be enough to stand up against the Crystal Kingdoms elite sniper golems.(Played as Pyrithians fighting against Hunter)

Level 8: There is one task left for the alliance to complete before their final assault. The destruction of Draco's factories will be vital for the battle to come but will the Craftsmen be able to stand Draco's fury as he unleashes his most powerful aerial golem yet. (Played as Craftsmen fighting against Draco)

Level 9: As the other kingdom strike the vital defenses of the Crystal Kingdom the Masons and their leader prepare for the assault of the Crystal Citadel. They are attacked by Wraiths forces. Outnumbered three to one by the most powerful alchemist in the land the greatest test of Mason defenses is just about to begin. Can they survive till reinforcements arrive. (Played as the Masons against Wraith)

Level 10: With their forces scattered after the battle against Wraith all four kingdoms move against the Crystal Citadel for one final battle but the King has developed a new weapon and now plots his revenge for the final battle of Stone Craft: The Crystal Kingdom

Ending Cinematic:

Well the plan written out so lets start making it.

A few notes about each race
Masons: Best defensive kingdom good at absorbing damage.
Craftsmen: Best offensive Kingdom very high technology
Hydroliths: Anti-Golem Kingdom
Pyrithians: Anti-Infantry Kingdom

Hey Hacker if you could start work on the terrain for the first map it would be very useful to have it done by the time im finished with the all the game mechanics. For the map I need large areas of hill country with plenty of cliffs (like the Kalimdor barrens) leading between two bases. It should be pretty simply to do but would be very usefull for getting our first map done. Along with that I was just wondering but do you know were we could get a banner done for our project. It would be nice to have somthing to put down in my signature.

I know what it is, just not a compelling name.

I'm a conceptor (story or art, for a story example see the concept I posted called Tempest of Iron)

I can terrain pretty well, but not amazingly.

And I plan to learn skinning soon.
