Battle for the Land (Pending)

I would just like comments and suggestions for my idea. My last idea was basically to over-used, so I decided I don't want a map like that at all.

The name is still yet to be decided, but here is my idea.

Story: Atop a hill lies the last fortification into the orc city. Many different enemies need this city to their advantage, but the orcs currently hold it. Hundreds, if not thousands of units lie in wait, to assult this city. Humans, Night Elf, Undead, and even the Creeps want this advantageous city. It is now up to you to defend this prime city, and keep these invaders from destroying the only powerhold the orcs have left. Can you hold off these attackers?

Basics: Choose from a variety of orc heroes, ranging from heavy melee hereos, magic casters, and ranged defenders. Each hero has their own unique abilities, making all heroes worth picking.

Basic Gameplay: Each round 10-15 enemies will spawn, and try to destroy the lever which controls the opening of the great gate. If they succeed in doing so, the massive gate will open, which will allow them access to the city. Your team will have to stop them at all costs from entering the city, through the gate. If one unit enters the gate, it is game over.
This lever can be repaired over time though. In order to repair this lever, you must hire a peon. Once hired, this peon will automatically begin to repair the lever. Once fully repaired the peon will then return, and await to be hired once more. This peon can be killed in action. Hire mercenaries from a different faction (race) in order to help you fight off these invaders. These mercenaries won't be cheap, but once owned will give you an advantage. Many different items to choose from, in order to aid you. Items can help your hero become stronger, help your entire team, and some items will actually harm the opponents that challenge you.

Information: The difference between this project, and some of the other survivals I have seen, is that you can save/load your character and use him to fight off your enemies next game. Max hero level is still undecided (suggestions open for discussion). Choose from several different difficulties, ranging from:

New Characters (If you create a new character, start this difficulty)
Easy (For heroes from level 10-20)
Normal (For heroes from level 21-40)
Hard (For heroes from level 41-65)

Additional Information: Tons of secrets to unlock, some include secret difficulties, awesome weapons, and possibly cool mercenaries.
Possible different modes of play, for more enjoyment.

I am open for suggestions, comments. I gave you the basics of the game. If you want more detail, please post here and tell me, and I will post more as soon as possible.
Depending on how members will like my idea, I might be looking to gather a team as well.
Thanks for taking the time to read my idea, and hopefully post comments and suggestions.

Sounds awsome, you shouldn't wait for other's replies, go ahead, gather a team! If the team and stuff could get this togther, this will be an awsome map. It'd also be cool if you turned it into a multi-player game. It'd be one of the bigger and cooler game on B.Net. Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear... my full intention was to make it a multiplayer map. Thanks for you comments, I really appreciate it. I will wait like one or two more days before making a team gathering thread.

I liked it until I got to the save and load part. Horrible idea. It would totally ruin gameplay for new people, and since it's survivor an d not RPG/ORPG, the high level characters would kill all the enemies without leaving any for the others. Trust me, it may seem balanced at first, but this kind of thing has completely destroyed many maps.

Yeah, with a game like that, i think i might just have to agree. Now at least, that I know it is multiplayer.

Well I haven't told you all of the details yet. First off, if the players choose the difficulty "New Character", there will be no loading at all allowed, so that prevents it right there. Secondly, I will have a penelty system for anyone who does load a high level character in a easy level difficulty. Not only will they gain little experience, but they will have high level modifiers, which will decrease their damage depending on their level, and decrease their attack speed depending on their level. This modifier will be harsher the higher the level the hero, to the difficulty. So say if we had a level 50-60 play "easy" mode, his heroes attacks will do 50-60% less damage, and he will attack 50-60% slower.
I will also make it quiet clear to the player that loading such a high level character on such a low level difficulty will come at its price. This will discourage players (hopefully) in to not playing with such high level heroes, on easy difficulties.
Then the thought about them being a tank and just taking all the shots came into mind. I thought that they would have a penelty on that as well, but that is open for discussion.

So what I am thinking is when you create the game, and allow players to enter, you make the game name something like (10-20)... so players know that level 10-20 heroes are to be played.

If I can manage all these "bugs" out, I am pretty sure I could make it balanced.

P.S. Just as I posted this comment another map came to mind, that has the similar problem I do. Humans vr Horde, where you can load your hero from last game, is just like mine. I was playing that game once, and all my team had level 15+ heroes, and I just started. I couldn't get any kills at all, and yet I continue to played the game, as well as many other low level heroes who couldn't kill.

Hopefully, my modifier solution will solve this problem, and keep it fun for all players, high level or low.

Or each player could defend his own side, and loading a hero would set the difficulty!

I wanted it to be more of a team based game, and not a single player type of game. There can be other solutions to this problem, which I am open for discussion.

I would like more opinions on this map before I set up a team. Is this a good idea? Would it be possible to balance it out? Should I set up a team?
Thanks.

Moved. I don't like the gray rep box you have, lets make it green.

Sounds good, so it sounds like a castle defense? I really like those old Castle Defense. I would rather have a non hero loading map. This is why I prefer Dota over Humans and Orcs. I can't really start a Human and Orcs hero because the enemy loaded characters will just slaughter him.

It's a survival, but I wanted it to be different then the countless other survivals I have played. The reason why I wanted to do a hero loading system, is becuase I wanted the game to have tons of secrets, and different modes of play, thus making it more enjoyable. I also wanted to make it hard, for experts, thus the difficulty level. The loading system shouldn't be a problem with the modifiers for high level heroes on low level difficulties. I wanted to discourage loading a high level hero on low level difficulties.

How long until you expect to be done? When it is completed, please post it all over so I don't miss it!

Sounds good except the loading, no matter how you try to balance it, loading is never good, even if it's balanced.
